Default Scale setup

So I have a question about my new setup. Im working on a scale cobra setup with swift mechanism. This is my first helicopter that is a kit with all electronics included so I have a question. I got my hands on a 4020-910 and i'm looking at an ice 50 esc to run it I'm planning to run either 5 or 6 cell battery looking for a head speed of about 1550. This sound like it would work? Another thing is im going fbl for a more scale look if that matters. Thanks for help all.

Not sure a 50A ESC is going to be ok with that motor on a 6S setup... Might be a good idea to see what kind of current that motor can pull before you pick up the ESC.

Hmm, so I looked into it a lot tonight at work and I think I will need something more like a 75 amp.

I use Castle Creations Phoenix ICE 75A Brushless Electronic Speed Controls in my
scale projects. From time to time I have tried other ESC. But I keep going back to
ICE 75. Used 5 or 6 six of them and had no faults. Had Gaul, Align, and after market
fail while flying. Looks cool but then you have to land!!!. I have them in Cobra 600, Huey 500.

I would go with the 75Amp also. It will give you some head room. I have a 600 Jet Ranger that I test flew on a 6S Lipo with a 800Kv motor. It would draw around 20 - 22 Amps with a head speed around 1450-1500. I am using the ICE HV80 in mine and I love it. I love the data logging.

Hope that helps.

Steve

6s with that motor (4020-910) ICE2 80HV is a must. The more cells you add the lower the amps.
That is a 8s to 10s Scorpion Motor not to sure what a 6s setup is going to give you on your head speed.
I run 9s in a 500 with the Ice2 80HV it does well with both battery setups (6s to 12s)

If Align put their name on a pile of dog crap stuck 2 blades in it and packaged it in a super combo, people would get in line to pre order. I just dont get it

I have a Scorpion 4020-910 that's been in a Swift with 550 blades using an ICE 100 controller on 6S. I stretched it to 600 blades for installation into a Funkey Airwolf. I would recommend the 100A ESC, particularly if you go with 5S. It's not worth saving a few bucks only to hit overcurrent protection or even start a fire. I originally went cheap with a Scorpion 60A ESC on 6S and it shut down in flight several times to protect itself. In the end it cost me more than doing it right the first time.
