I talked to them yesterday and they are shipping them out in the order that they were preordered in. They had only received 1 so far and had shipped it out already. The rest should be on their way. They sound like they are on top of it. I'll post here when I have an update

I ordered 5 days before you

There's only 1 person ahead of me so its just a matter of them being received from HH. I think they should be coming in any day now. I'll let you know if I hear anything else.

We're going to have to fly carefully though because spares aren't available yet. For some reason I feel like I'm specifically going to break a blade grip but hopefully I'm wrong. Does anyone know ETA on parts?

The argument for the release was that they wanted the parts available (see the other thread in this forum on the 450X delivery date-here is link https://www.helifreak.com/showpost.p...&postcount=153). Not sure if that means at the LHS or at HH.

Hi,
The best compromise in a non-perfect world was to make sure the parts were enroute via Fed Ex before release (had left the factory for WW availability)... We would not ship until we had a confirmed near term timeline.
In theory that means that the vast majority of the 450X specific parts should be showing available over the next 3-6 business days... allowing for customs and QA.
It is being followed closely.

Hey David,

I know this is a bit off topic but I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to post here, helping us HeliFreaks out with our questions. It is very much appreciated and a big to you for doing it and Horizon for allowing you to.

+1

It's a tough position to put yourself in, but it's certainly appreciated.

Here's a few pics of the one that I picked up at lunch today...I haven't had a chance to power anything up yet or check anything out but will report back later once I've had a chance to go through and re-check all the set-up...

My first impressions:
  • Whole assembly feels kind of light (Not a bad thing)
  • Canopy is very nice
  • Carbon blades are a nice touch
  • AR7200BX is great (Why I decided to buy this!)
  • ESC heatsink is pretty good size...(Hope the BEC is up to the task)
  • Head design and geometry looks pretty good
  • Ball links are free moving and feel good
  • Servos look better than B400 but still look like they could be a weak point
  • Chinese weight on tail grips is a nice touch
  • Everything else is typical Blade quality
Hope this helps....

I see Ampdraw no longer has the 450x listed as backordered.

Mine & Ribbe's!

Did you know we have an opening for a heli developer right now?

Gotta be legal to work in the US...see http://www.horizonhobbycorp.com/Careers/USA/ for more information about the job and how to apply.

I, for one, salute you brave, early unpaid beta testers of a new release HH product.

May your bugs, glitches and/or mechanical failures be few and far between. I, along with others, await your early reviews and will continue to follow the saga of the 450 X before ordering one (maybe) in, oh, say... Jul/Aug or so...

Isn't it the same one that's in the 450 3D? If so, it's held up well in that model, but we are dealing with a more powerful motor in this one.

They are the exact same DS76/76T servos as in the 450 3D. They work well enough, but aren't very durable in the slightest of crashes, so be sure to pick up some spare gear sets. They're only $2.99 each...IF they're in stock at HH. They were backordered for a very long time last year, so I grabbed a bunch when they finally came in.

It would have been nice to see them beef up that cheesy threaded screw/plastic frame interface at the tail boom junction...but no dice...

Perhaps it would be worth replacing the servos with higher quality better performing servos with metal gears?

Would the BEC handle the additional current draw?

Any suggestions for suitable candidates?

Would they have to move to Illinois?

I'm a total noob and a carpenter. I could bring a whole new perspective to the design of Blade helis.
