Default Newbie Computer Radio Question

I got my DX7s a week or so ago and have a question. When I bind my helis to the radio, where do the settings come from? Are they settings that are built into the heli and enter the radio as part of the binding process?

Once you bind a heli you'll have to do all the settings manually. It basically consists of getting all the servos moving in the proper direction first and then go through a complete setup of the heli from scratch.
I guess in some cases like the msr and mcpx it will fly with the default settings but don't try it on a 250 and up size CP heli without going through the setup.

Thanks. Yes, I'm going thru the stickys to become educated on programming and noticed the "default" programming was real close to suggested settings on Finless Bob's video. Part of my problem is that there doesn't seem to be much out there yet on the DX7s. I called HH on a question while trying to input the settings in the manual of my mcpxv2 and the Tech told me to use the DX8 settings???? Thats why I didn't input anything, bound the heli and checked to see what was input automatically.

The radio comes programmed with the factory "default" settings.

So I guess my question now is this - Is it OK to bind the heli to get the basic settings, then adjust for flying preference?

The radio and rx need to be bound/binded in order to make most of the setup adjustments to the heli and radio before flying.

Binding is essentially getting the radio and receiver to communicate with each other.

The TX does not get any settings from he heli. If anything, its the other way around. The TX has a unique code and when you bind, the receiver learns the particular code for your TX. You have to go through the menu items one by one and set all the settings. Some are more important than others and some dont apply to certain helicopters (like no gyro setting for an mCPx). The most important are to select heli mode, make sure the swash geometry is right, and then your A/E/R rates and expo and Throttle/Pitch curves. The Blade manuals have some guidelines but ultimately you have to set those for your preference.
