Default Still flying the 450X?

I anyone still flying this heli? I've got one with only 4 flight on it. Been practicing on the mcpx BL to get my skill up to speed. Picked up this heli a while back and hovered it a few times but that;s it.

Are parts still available for this heli?

I still fly mine once in a while. You can still get parts for it. The Blade 330s is basically the same heli but with a different FBL system.

I still fly mine now and then and always enjoy it when I do.

Not only do I fly mine, but it's upgraded to a long-range UAV with TBS Crossfire and EZOSD. I got a 360CFX 3S and turned it into a UAV with the same tech, but there's something about the 450X that makes it much more stable but I haven't figured it out yet.

Hopefully this isn't too far off topic.

Is the 330X/S head the same as the 450X / are the head parts interchangeable?

I've heard (need to research this fully still) that the 450X head is a drop-in on the 400 3D. I have a 400 and since I can't afford a modern FBL heli of this size, I'm thinking about maybe converting it to FBL. (I have a ton of spares for the 400 to keep it flying for a while if I'm careful with it).

However, even if the head is a drop-in, it doesn't seem that you can buy a complete head and I'd probably have to assemble one by buying the parts piecemeal. Which seems expensive!

The only significant difference between the Blade 330X and the 450X is the color of the canopy.

Thanks ignaceous, that says it all.

Now, if I could find a complete 450X/330 head and a cheap FBL I'd be laughing

I was goofing around with My new 330X a couple years ago...doing what I should have not been doing from a position I should not have been doing it from...

Long story short...the tail got sucked into the ground by gravity

I rebuilt it into a MicroHeli 450X carbon fiber frame...added an iKON2 and haven't looked back

Yep, still flying mine, its my 'beater' the one I'm not too afraid to crash. Not that I do, only been down once in its life. In the process of upgrading it to Ikon 2 and HW 40A esc, xnova 4100kv motor. Main reason is more power obviously but be able to run the ikon's gov on it to get rid of any bogging.

You're in luck.
When I switched my 3 birds to TBS Crossfire long range I decided I'm never going back to Spektrum and now I have a few AR7200BX units just sitting around going to waste, plus many partial FBL head assembly spare parts for my 450X that I don't need. If you're interested, send me a return postage paid envelope and I'll send one set to you. No strings attached. I've got enough junk already.

That's just incredible, thank you. Happy to arrange any postage/parcel cost. Sent you a PM, much appreciated!

I still have a few 450X helis that will fly again someday, when I have all of my Goblin projects finished. I still even have a few of the Lynxheli "Ultra" carbon fiber frame sets for spare parts. I know that a few of you remember that CF ugrade.

I got way too many helicopters partially assembled now.

And for JonJet:

Terrific upgrades especially the IKON2 upgrade. For me, BRAIN2 (same thing) on a 6S 450X is a mean machine.

Upgrading...

As this my practice/beater heli figured it would be better to run the same FBL as the others (SAB 380/580). Upgraded motor and ESC so I have full telemetry, and most important a governor. Nice thing about all these electrics (motor especially) is they will easily migrate to an Oxy 3 / 4. The 2216-4100 motor is for Oxy 3 but will run in Oxy 4 which is the same size as this bird (325 mm blades), would just need a bigger pinion gear but would easily run it.

I just got one in a trade. Its in nice condition except it needs all the parts that attach to the head block, + a canopy.
Anyone have spares they could part with?

Still flying it, not that often, but still take it for a spin now and then. Parts are still available everywhere. Most of the numbers are still the same as on the 330. And you can also upgrade stuff

Yep, I have four lynx 450x and still fly at least one if them every weekend. Since I have a massive stash of spares, I'll prolly fly it for years to come. Apart from the x3, its been the most upgradeable, adaptable bird ive owned.

I have mine on a Lynx carbon fiber frame, but they haven't been available for a long, long time. Life is going to suck when I crash it because I will never go back to the wonky, flexy stock plastic frame.
