The stock servos works just fine in this heli. Look at the promo videos. If you guys want to spend the money to upgrade to heavier more expensive servos be my guest but unless you are looking for crash durability there is no need to.

Just my opinion.
I have the stock tail servo on my heli right now, but I have a HS-5084MG. Do you recommend to stick with stock tail servo or change it to HS-5084? What difference would it make?

Some good points for sure, but if you are (like me) going to be replacing sets of gears ($9-$15 per crash) you may find that after a few crashes your MG servos pay for themselves.

Plus, the Eflite servos don't exactly have a great rep after being crashed. They frequently let go due to crappy little motors, poor durability and poor soldering costing you alot more if the heli heads earthwards at any decent clip.

Additionally, better servos fly better. From my experience, they clearly handle wind much better, a quality tail servo kicks the absolute crap out of the weak little stock one (wag and blow outs in high winds) and the cyclics are immediately smoother. The heli is just nicer to fly and feels like it's slightly larger with slightly longer blades. I worked out that my set of MKS cyclics were basically paid for by the sets of plastic gears I would have run through. Plus all the angst of the tail wagging with the stock tail servo(s) drove me crazy...what a waste of time that was! New servo's no wag...this was on two 450 3D's and two 450X's.

JMHO.

As for weight, I highly doubt that 99.5% of us would notice the extra 10 or 15g for a metal geared servo.

Try both (esp in windy conditions) and tell us which you prefer ; )

Anecdotally from my end, the stock servo is fine if it's not windy. Anything more than gusts > 20km/h, i think anyways, you will notice a stronger servo. The 'speed' quoted is misleading imho on how good a servo actually performs.

Again, I think the stock heli is fine, but I do believe what FTF says - with better servos it will handle more wind.

Thanks for your opinions, I will try both and let you know what I prefer. I have to read up on the AR7200BX settings with the new tail servo. Been flying mostly flybar Helis earlier

Just installed an eflite 450 motor and 11t pinion.
Just tested to make sure it works, so far so good.

Default Oh the halloween horror

This is what we did today. Dumb thumbed it during inverted flight. Oh well atleast I'm trying, she'll live again. At least the servos made it out ok, not so sure about the rest of it

Doh! Doesn't look too bad, though. At least from those pictures it looks like it's maybe all contained in the main shaft and rotor head.

Yep, plus the Fusuno seems to have suffered only minor scratches.

That's good! They're a lot tougher than the plastic ones. Mine have survived some hideous crashes.

Other side if the canopy looks a little worse. However as hard as I took it into the ground I'm surprised it didn't disintegrate.

I planted it in pretty good tonight. We were flying in a 25000sqft empty warehouse.

Just now hovering at 50 feet and lost power. About 8 feet from the ground it decided to come back on (this was only 40 sec into flight) and smashed into my house.
I think maybe the esc is bad.

Looked at the remains before leaving the house for a short vacation after Sandy's visit..flew it just before Sandy blew in, second flight in idle up after twilight crash rebuild. Had my first ever carbon fiber blade failure in mid air... Brass blade insert still in blade grip, will have to buy a new frame and some missing items I don't have stockpiled.

On a bright note, the tail assembly survived and the battery once found only had a minor nick..not bad from 40' up ejection. Main gear and landing skid have no damage!

My bother was watching and said, "what was that?" when the whump sound in mid air and parts shower occurred. We found the most important pieces, 7200bx, servos, esc and motor ....canopy in small pieces. Took awhile to find blade that failed...think I'll work with the Mcpxs and the 550e for awhile before rebuilding.

Scoreboard: Intact flyable helis.. 550e, Mcpxs, MQX, msr, MsrX

Need rebuilt... 450 3d(2) 450x.
Needs motor...bearing went. 300x

Time to buy a few more spare helis..... I fly these things way too much but no more twilight flights except inside.

Is it a crash if it doesn't get off the ground? Tail stuck in the grass and rolled it over.
Of course it was the first flight of the day.

Flew 4 packs friday and 7 this morning.

I have to say that after 5 months... I start to fly her a bit more confidently. I mean, not afraid anymore of my dumb thumbs. If it crashes, it crashes. And it will probably be due to a failure.

Nothing fancy, fast circuits and figure eights, 540 degrees stall turns (soooo much easier than with the mCPX...I imagine is due to the mass, but it really hangs up there for... a century!).

One question: anybody knows how to achieve that fast tail right-left-right-left (sort of "lightning" effect) while climbing up? My rudder does not want to do anything like that (also tried in a hover but no way, there should be a trick...)
