Amazing what a little time...patience and a Sharpie marker can do...this one used to be the stock yellow

I've also been working to add an XT60 "kill switch" to most of My models so I can connect battery - install canopy - carry to the flight line...and then plug in the XT60 "kill switch" to initialize then fly

The Sharpie idea is one I've used for years...

The XT60 "kill switch" I discovered when I asked another pilot why he preferred the iKON2 HD over the regular iKON2 and his answer was the primary lead "kill switch" provided with the iKON2 HD...

I then saw another pilot who solved the problem using an XT60 as I've described...

$100 cheaper and probably lighter too

The "Big Thaw" was a smashing success with 37 registered pilots...largest ever for BAM

The club puts on a great event...and Steak/Baked Potato made on site with all the fixins

Speaking of smashed...My 330X caught the ground tail first...not good

Well Jon... On the 330X, why did you let the heli do that??

Yes, we have all been there! I am really trying to up my flights per week. I made one silly mistake a few weeks ago. As my first test of "auto" ability, I got my 4S 450X up high, flipped the switch, and instead of setting up for an auto with 25% throttle programmed, I went to TH... When my brain figured it out, almost immediately, the Slow Spool up bit me! For now, it looks like only a broken landing gear, but being short on time, have been flying my 6S 450X instead. What a huge difference in power!

Ok, JonJet, a question about your XT-60 "Kill Switch". Does the XT-60 connection complete the battery connection feeding the ESC? I also have a few Brain2 HDs and like the remote switch, that plugs into the FBL. It is a very small gauge cable, so weighs almost nothing. With your solution, I might need to significantly extend my battery/ESC lead which may add several ounces of weight in copper wire. Am I thinking correctly on this? I like the idea though, because it appears to be very simple. Also, never a bad thing when you save $100!

Thank you for any comments.

Steve

It doesn't add much at all...and Yes it breaks/makes the ESC black wire connection

Consider that the ESC black wire already reaches to the battery...all you need to add is the wire distance to the Kill Switch location

Cut the black wire at the ESC's connector (or unsolder the red wire) and run it to the rear in a handy location

Solder a new wire from the other pin of the Kill Switch to the pos connection of the ESC's battery connector (add a new one if you used the existing for the Kill Switch)

Under most conditions you will only add a few inches of wire...and with 4S or 6S power from a 3S-designed model...who's gonna notice a few extra inches of wire and a connector !!

I wasn't really too upset about the 330X...it's the cheapest 450 I own and the least powerful/adjustable

Haven't removed it from the case since the ground sucked on the tail

Installed an XT60 Kill Switch on a 300CFX tonight...

Added an XT60 connector and about 2 extra inches of wire to complete it

ESC black right from the package (minus 2 inches) to the Kill Switch - added black wire from Kill Switch to XT60 for the battery

ESC red right from the package turned 90 degrees to position for battery connector

And Jeff was kind enough to include some extra decals to show it off

Had a great time yesterday at "Old Man Paulie's" 60th birthday celebration at the cabin site north of McGrath MN...

Turns out I'm older by several months

No flying this morning...gusty winds got everyone packing up for the trip home

Host property owner Maynard was delighted to have us...and sees himself getting into the hobby within several weeks although he'll be and FPV pilot

Have a tail wag that is most likely some type of tail issue to try to fix on My #4 450X...but everything else flew great

Default 450x conversion

This is my latest creation of an old favourite.

I used a fusion 270 esc with an ec3 extension and a 360 cfx 3s motor with 10t pinion.

Maiden went very well its buttery smooth to fly

Great looking 450X...simple yet functional in it's own way

In case you have more than one...or a 300-size or 470 size...

The SAB 380 carry bag (with inserts removed) makes a great double-heli carry case

I have 5 450X's and a 470LP in 3 bags...carry 6 heli's with one hand !!

After a number of messages to iKON Support...I requested to send the iKON unit from 450X #5 to them to have it updated after it locked into BootLoader 1.5 during the update process

Every other iKON updated on the first attempt with no issues whatsoever so it's not My PC's or processes

Hopefully they will repair and return it without much hassle

A flight is a flight...no matter it's intensity

Congrats on the numbers and ownership time

I'll check My iKON's at the end of the season for flight totals since this is the first season for all but one

Replaced stock screws on my second lynx 450x with stainless steel ones. I'm in the process of doing this on all of my helis, mainly on non mechanical areas such as the frame.

Bought a jigsaw and small drill press from Amazon so that I can cut reasonable facsimiles of things such as carbon fiber landing gear and bottom frame plates. They wont be as pretty, but will be functional.

Waiting on my third 450x to arrive! Bought another HF out recently, full bnf plus some spares

My B400 (8 total) collection is starting to look small in comparison to your 450X one. But you have a ways to go to catch up to JonJet. I have only one 450X

Day 1 of the Red Lake Falls MN Friend Fly...

A handful of flights on 450X #1 (4S and uIKON)

Watched a Synergy E7 eject it's batteries and explode in two directions at the same time...

Good friends and great times

Day 2 of the Red Lake Falls Friend Fly...

More pilots...lots of flights...also a bit of carnage

My 450X #1 will need a whole new tail after I lost orientation and gravity sucked it to the ground

But on a high note...(and maybe a moment of temporary insanity)

I purchased a VooDoo FPV Quad from a good friend...no goggles yet so I fly it LOS on 3S and 4S...same as 450X #1
