After some detailed inspection...450X #1 will be better off with a re-kit...

But it may be awhile until I round up the needed bits

New five bladed head with scale props and wider tail blades. Will maiden soon! Still needs some minor phasing adjustment and she's ready to go!

Worthless without pics, Steve...

I installed a 450 6s dominator motor with a 14 tooth pinion, went 100% throttle and exploded the tail box. I guess I’m upgrading to the metal tail lol.

Depending on the specs of the motor...

I'd say nearly 5000 RPM head speed is a bit much for a 450X...

It's designed for 3S 3900kV w/10T pinion and 136-140T main gear...just above 3K head speed

Going up in cell count will in most cases nearly double the motor RPM...

Assuming typical kV for the 450 6S motor...you might want to go down several pinion sizes

And possibly reduce that throttle curve by 20% or more

My calculations on mr Mel’s showed that I was spinning around 4500 rpms or so. I kind of expected something to go wrong, but wanted to see if I could push the plastic tail pieces that far. I have metal replacements coming and I figure I’ll govern it to around 3600-3800 and see what happens.

I decided to "part out" 450X #1 tonight...just to see what can be salvaged

Servo's seem ok - motor and EDC should be fine

Tail is trash except for the belt and servo rod guides/servo mounts

The main shaft came out with the bearings when I separated the stock frame halves...and that got Me thinking...

The main shaft has a flange so we cannot roll it on glass to check for tweaks...

Why not just roll it with bearings and watch closely?

Sorry for the delay, Jon, lifes been really busy. As for benefits, not much except for they look cool, and ive found they are less likely to strip out. Bummer on you mashing #1, was it a Lynx bird?

Lynx 450x #1:

Lynx 450x #2:

Haven't done it to Lynx stretch 450x #3 yet, because of these two little farts, theyve been taking up a lot of my time. Along with issues with the old Ford lately as well. Have paid so little attention to the hobby that its starting to bug me

450X #1 was the stock frame...

Not much loss...I'll rebuild it most likely on a MicroHeli frame

But Dude...

You desperately need to do some frame washers...didn't Oxy teach You anything???

I thought about that, but I’ve had a couple of situations where those recessed washers caused big problems when screws stripped. Any idea off the top of your head where I can find some simple flat ones?

Btw I have a microheli frame if you need it, it’s used, but it appears to be in good shape. I prefer the Lynx one

Bummer it is 300x......

Doing repairs on lynx 450x that I picked up recently, haven’t even flown it yet. Our fat cat knocked it off the bureau and damaged the pitch slider. Luckily, hadn’t put the blades on yet. Wasn’t cats fault, i put the heli too close to the edge. No biggie.......

Finally flew the third Lynx 450x today, a stretched version that I got not long ago. Had to fix the cat induced damage from the other day first, lol. Its the first one I've gotten that is using the fbl governor, wow what a difference. Think I'll have to convert over a number more this way as well, its much more responsive.

Added RC Booya quick release mounts to all three helis and changed over nearly all bolts on frame and tail on the stretched one to stainless steel, like the other two.

Thinking about building a fourth, based on the stock frame. I have a lot of Lynx stuff, probably enough to build a fourth, but I want to keep them in reserve as theyr'e in short supply. I did manage to find three carbon fiber tail fins the other day on eBay, was running short.

I've thought about trying the iKON2 gov...no clue how to do it tho...

Castle Talon60 seems to do just fine so far

I've got RC Booya on nearly everything...from the 300's thru all the 450X's and the 470L and X3...

Jeff knows Me well enough to toss an extra few decals into the package cuz He knows I'll use them

Just went and flew today, five packs between two helis. I'm in the process now of putting RC Booyas on everything else I have that they'll fit on. Jon, you created a monster
