Attempting to assemble My 8th 450X...using the 330X electronics in a MicroHeli CF frame after the 330X's tail got sucked into the ground by a freak moment of excessive gravity...

I discovered an issue with a stock 450X rotor hub that would not allow the servo-to-grips rods to remain vertical...

The hole in the rotor hub is incorrect...and does not allow the follower arms to remain at 90 degrees to the rotor hub when connected

Have a new rotor hub on order to confirm My suspicions

Sure enough...

The new rotor hub (left in pictures) with follower arms attached allows 90 degree connection to the hub collar...

The bad hub (right in pictures) is approx. 20 degrees off of 90

JJ .. You've finally exceeded my B400 fleet with your 450X one . Too bad about the event. Today looks like the one good flying day here for a few. Yesterday was storms and winds all day up to 2 AM this morning. Hot and humid but I've been out anyway. Farmers field is flooded so sticking to 450 and under again today. Will fly my single 450X for sure.

Would that be with counting #8?

It's almost ready...iKON2 and feathering shaft should arrive tomorrow

Then setup and checks before maiden

Does this mean I will beat HH to the punch and have perhaps the first 6S 330X?

Contacted HH Support today regarding the incorrectly drilled head block (BLH4322)...

They are sending out a new head block...and the tech offered a pair of CF main blades along with it...

As always...when the callback came they greeted Me by first name

Day 1 (Thursday) at RiverBottom RC Field...

450X #1's maiden flight went off without a hitch...smooth and solid as expected

Lots of activity with other pilots...including the complete destruction of a new Goblin 570 just as we got the tail gain/headspeed set properly (dumb thumb on the elevator into a ghost hole that claimed a Synergy E7 last time we were here)

Saw demo of the Magic Mirror Heli Tachometer...amazing tool I will just need to get for Myself

Expecting some more pilots to arrive on Friday and the actual event is Saturday so it's looking like a great weekend of flying to come

Day 2 of the event...and a special guest pilot arrived

The immortal Rob Cherry made lots of flights with Synergy's E5 / E7...absolutely amazing to watch from such a close distance

And during a moment of what can only be called temporary insanity (encouraged by the owner) he darted a delta wing into the ground at full tilt...from higher than his normal auto-rotation height

I also got a quick but complete schooling on CastleLink and Set RPM mode...

Works great on the 450X's that have Lynx motors...not so much on the others

Will need to get a few specs verified and try those again...

But the ones with 4S and 6S motors seem very strong now

All in all a great day...and still have tomorrow

Day 3 and the final day at RiverBottom R/C Field...and unfortunately the carnage continued for as few...

Simple pilot errors thrashed 3 large heli's into the weeds...an E5...a N5...and a N700...nowhere near the ghost hole that reared it's head yesterday

And there was an immaculate save of one 700 after the front tail drive gears let go in midair...the pilot auto-rotated-uncontrollable-piro'd it to the ground safely

2 borrowed gears later it was back in the air

As always the celebration meal was fantastic...with FryDaddy Scott serving up all kinds of goodies from the deep fryer...pulled pork sandwiches and all kinds of salads and fixin's

I think there were a total of 12 pilots...the most I've ever seen...with two of them coming up from St Louis MO just for today

Replaced the Scorpion 3S motor in 450X #6 with My favorite...

Now the Lynx 6S 1970kV motor can have all the power it needs

And the CastleLink Governor's Set RPM Mode settings worked great

450X #8 (330X rebuild) got a Castle Creations Talon60 today...

Allowing CastleLink Set RPM Mode to take over the governor duty

Lynx 2214 4S 4100kV motor will supply all the power...

10T pinion should do nicely at 2800/2900/3000 Head Speeds

Will be attending the Fergus Falls MN Fun Fly today...

Hopefully do the Set RPM testing on all of My 450X's...

Talon60 settings compared to the Magic Mirror Heli Tachometer should be interesting

Set RPM checks on 7 of 8 450X's today...

Got a couple pinions to change but I'm getting used to the CastleLink settings...

Just need to up the pinion tooth count on the 6S models and all will be good

The last new motor arrived in today's mail and got installed into 450X #5...so everything is on Lynx motors now

I had to pass on the Alexandria event last Saturday...the forecast was for windy conditions

VRCF will host a Fall Fun Fly even on Oct 13 &14 at the local field

A couple servo upgrades should be done by then...looking forward to one of the last outdoor events of the season

This little bugger has come along way in life... What started in 2011 as a RTF blade 4503d flybar model has been transformed and modified over the years. For it's final upgrade I will be switching to 6s (FINALLY) I've had a Castle 50amp for some time installed and have just left it 3s. Just ordered a EOX 2222-1970kv Lynx motor and two 1200mah 6s batteries for it. Hopefully the packs are not too small but I think that seems to be the going size for 325mm bladed machines? I will post updates when the parts arrive. Will probably be selling off this 2221-8 Scorpion 3s motor...

Going to build me another to have something to do. Even though I have the lynx hardware to really build one out, I think I'm gonna stick with stock frame/boom/LG/mechanics this time. Since I dont want to spend any cash, I'm gonna build with what I have in trems of electronics (ds95i Cyclics, align 425 tail, 50a cc with gryphon bec, ikon, spektrum rx, elite 3s motor).

It'll be #4 . Id have more, but I have three forzas, and am building my 4th x3 (tri blade fore and aft)....
