Thanks guys. I'm not too tore up over it. Ill rebuild it. Looks like the only parts Ill have to buy is a frame, tail case and carbon boom. The rest of it I already had. Im mostly hoping the servos are fine, won't be sure about that till i put it all back together.

Life goes on. She will fly again!

Worked on a Goblin style knock off canopy cover for the Beast X and tail servo area.
Clean it up a bit.

Default What did you do to your Blade 450X today?

Just got a new motor mount from Lynx. Feels lighter, has heat sink slots and slotted holes. Screws are hex head. Here's a couple pics

It looks like that mount might give you more gear mesh adjustment? I ask because it looks like the motor mount holes are slotted, while the stock ones are just holes. Can you slide the motor on the mount, AND move the mount in the frame?

EDIT: After thinking about it - not sure if the extra adjustment is needed - just wondering if it is possible.

Yes, Haven't put it in yet but I was thinking the same thing. I am a little worried that the screws may not hold tight enough and I may experience some slipping Of the motor against the mount. I'll just have to wait and see.

I just did it after 30 flights. Good thing I did, the shaft was starting to get burnt but no real damage.

The slotted holes on the Lynx plate is a great feature there. Thanks for sharing! That could definitely be an upgrade for me.

Thanks. Since it sucks out today, I'll do that mod and check things out.

Added plus, middle slot works for a 3rd screw, and locks motor from moving in slots (effectively negating the slots). Click image for larger version

Are there washers under those button-head screws?

As long as the motor mount screws are not lose it will hold just fine..no need for the other screw.

Thanks Al.

I've driven in the dirt with highly-modded r/c buggies and trucks, which bang around the track, and slotted motor mounts don't scare me.

Oh, wait - I've got an app for that! j/k

No washers came with it so none used. After installing it, it seems the slots are redundant, at least with a 10 t pinion. There's plenty of room in the slots in the frame.

Not to toot my own horn, but listen to me. You need washers under a slot config. I like the split washers. 3mm size.

That will fasten it to the nines and be tight, and be tuned like an angel with wings.Trust me.

Thumbs up

I dyed the fins & tail blades orange. came out great. the skids would not take to the dye so ILL get some orange 500 skids. but it really look good if you want to save on parts this is a very easy fix $4.

I'm sure the Lynx works great but why bother when the stock motor mount seems virtually indestructible and can even accomodate 14T pinions without ever causing a motor or main gear issue.

I've run 10, 12, 13 and 14T pinions all without a single issue. I've been using my 14T one for the past 8 months.
