Gives a whole new meaning to "autorotation".

Contrary to incorrect and somewhat popular belief, helis (models and full scale) will auto just fine without a functioning tail rotor. In fact, "enter the auto" IS the emergency procedure for a partial or complete loss of tail rotor drive.

Lol. They were still on the bench waiting for the paint to dry. Same colour.

Did all this to help with visibility. Stock white and blue blend in very well with the sky.

Ah! So it's spray paint. Flown it already? Don't want to ruin your flight... but try landing VERY soft otherwise the paint on your skids will... go. Flex is not a friend of paint. I recommend dying.

No, haven't flown it yet but I guess it may come off - will see. I'm not too concerned, it's primarily so I can see it better in the sky.

I used Tamiya (for plastics), fluorescent red.

I used Tamiya (for plastics), red fluorescent. Will fly tomorrow and see how it holds up. I'm not too concerned, it's primarily to visibility in the sky.

Dude, you gotta bring it down a notch on the know-it-all scale. It was a joke with regard to what would happen if he tried to spool up without tail blades.

Yes, and RIT Dye works great, especially on white plastic parts. Available in grocery stores around here.

make sure that you balance your tail blades, since you painted them. Paint weighs a little and could mess up something. Dont ask how i know

Me, too, but I just ordered the 450X version of the 4503D canopy. Same colors, but with "X" markings. Red, orange and white will be much more visible than black, grey and dark blue. Whoever picked those colors for something that goes into the SKY should be kicked off the design team. They look good on the ground, but that's about it.

Default My 450X pic

I bought this heli to be a beater that I would just kick around, then I flew it, and I couldn't believe how great it flies! So I'm very happy with it, I'm even thinking of selling my trex450dfc and replacing it with another 450X. I just wish I could fly the big one like I can the little one!
