I agree I made a mistake in purchasing the CF fins. I still consider the CF tail blades a performance improvement over the plastic blades, but I would try another brand of tail blades in the future.

The stock plastic horizontal fin has a concave recess that is meant to sit directly on top of the cylindrical boom. The CF horizontal fin is completely flat with no concave recess, so it is designed to be mounted on a flat surface, such as the aluminum mount.

As you said, you can just screw the CF horizontal fin into the stock plastic mount and go fly, but it is not designed to fit that way.

I don't know if you happened to see my thread called "Bad Right Tip" but people have been telling me that it has to be due to vibration making the beast freak out. I wonder if the carbon parts all together are causing vibration since there actually not designed for the mounts that there on?

I guess in theory that could be true, since the CF horizontal fin would be resting against the boom in not the most secured way when using the stock plastic mount. Either way, I am probably not going to test this, as I plan to not use the CF fins or aluminum mount. I plan on keeping those items in my waste-of-money-junk-I-bought bin.

Very nice fleet! I see that you have a 700 as well. It is amazing how much smaller the 450x looks, but I got one anyway as well. I must say it flies well!
