![]() Lookin good, Chris! I like that full wrap shape. Is this something that will make it's way to Luca? I thought you mentioned something about that on the show.
BTW, what "speed up gear" are you talking about? I'm not familiar with that.

![]() Yep, another one from my mold is making its way to Luca already.
The gear is the tail drive speedup gear Blade offers. It's good if you run lower headspeed, because it increases the tail rotor speed. It's not so good if you overspeed it to around 4000. ![]()

![]() @ABaze : I see you're not flying with the tail boom fin (the little horizontal one connected to the tail boom supports). What's the part you're using to attach the tail boom supports to the boom?

![]() Got my 450x in April 2013... this was my second heli right after learning to fly the MSR. And without the use of Phoenix, I plunged right into teaching myself how to fly CP.
Many flights and many crashes and many rebuilds later, here is the current version of the 450x. I call it the 450xxx. For this and last rebuild (I'm soon retiring this bird because I'm flying a 600x now) I went all out with the best electronics I could afford to see what this bird could be capable of. (with plans that I could move the electronics onto a future 450 project) motor: Scorpion HK-2221-6v2 pinion: Align 11T esc: YGE 40 with governor main blades: stock (with added stickers for better disc visibility - they are "cubesmith" rubix cube stickers :p ) tail blades: stock lipo: pulse 2250mah 45c cyclic servos: MKS ds93 tail servo: MKS ds95i canopy: blade upgraded fibreglass canopy (I trimmed it to reduce weight and better airflow and look) extra upgrades: the tail servo aluminum bracket / carbon fiber vertical tail fin / removed horizontal tail fin - kept stock plastic boom bracket

![]() Bought my 450X back in February of 2012. Still enjoy flying it. I've made several upgrades. But purposely did not "hop it up" (bought a Gaui X3 instead).
These are its upgraded parts: E-flite 450 Heli Brushless Outrunner Motor (3600kV) Microheli Aluminum/Carbon Fiber Main Frame Synergy Rail R-326 Flybarless Main Blades Phoenix Edge Lite 50 ESC Savox SH-0257MG Digital Metal Gear "High Speed" Micro Servos RJX Mini Size PRO SPEC Digital HV Tail Servo GENS ACE 2200mAh 60C 3S 11.1V LiPo Batteries (120C Burst) Spektrum TM1000 Telemetry Module 500 size tail fin Blade Aluminum Tail Servo Boom Mount Lost model alarm (for when my heli goes down in a corn/soybean/wheat field)

![]() Nothing too exciting. It's all stock still but this pic reminds me how far I've come since last summer - a tiny 3 channel mall copter to a 450 and my hands have finally stopped shaking when I fly it.

![]() Honestly I'm not really sure! Originally my goal was to just get something that I could fly outside and I considered the mCPx to be as far as I wanted to go. Before I knew it though I owned a 130x and then the 450 at the start of this season.
From here though I'm not sure. I've been keeping this hobby pretty casual (compared to many people on this forum) and for me it's really just about getting out there and doing something relaxing by myself - an escape from the monotony of working at a desk. I generally dislike fixing these things which has held me back somewhat from more advanced flight but I have the basics down pretty well now and have been practicing loops, rolls, inverted in the simulator. I don't really have the flying space for anything bigger than a 450 so if I move up from here I'm going to have to join a club which I've resisted because I'm not really sure it's my scene. Honestly I'm pretty happy with this size right now. At the same time I'd like to learn a lot more about build and setup so who knows. Maybe a club membership, maybe a non-BNF heli, maybe something bigger than a 450. I'm going to do some thinking this winter during the downtime! |

![]() I totally understand the wanting to stay casual, and not wanting to join a club. Going bigger than a 450 really is a whole other level of commitment.
Also, for what it's worth I prefer to call the 450X a "325 class" heli. I want to do my part to kill the perpetuation of labeling helis by their electric motor size. Blade size is so much more accurate and universal. If you wanted to stay at that size, there are several really great machines in that class with more on the way. This is a great time to be into the 350 helis. Once you are good and comfortable with fixing your 450x, I would certainly encourage you to build a kit 350 in which you can select all of your components and put it together yourself. IMO, there is a great feeling that comes with building and then flying something you made.

![]() My Microheli "Blue Evil" fibreglass canopy arrived the other day. Really liking it so far - Looks great and it's much easier to see against the blue sky compared to the stock canopy.

![]() I'm still using the original 420 motor, still going strong with over 200 flights under its belt (theres a scorpion 2221-8 ready to go in when it eventually fails), Hitec 5065 cyclic servos and savox sh0262 on the tail (got some Hitec 5084's coming). Canopy is Fusuno Graffitti and tail boom supports are KDE (they are thicker and dont flex as much as the Lynx supports).
