![]() Thanks all! Perth is a great place, perfect summer weather only problem with heli flying is it can be a bit windy with average winds 15-20kmh (10-13mph) ... But weather over summer is almost always like those photos, and if you get out early enough (before 8am) the wind is a lot better.

![]() Thx Nelson, I had to do the loud colors so I can see the heli better and have better orientation when flying. knowing my old fart, can't see on one eye and blind on the other eye.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I just bought my 450 x 3 weeks ago and i love it! So smooth. All I have left to do is to replace the stock swash and tail servo mounting arms with aluminum ones and replace the motor (440 is ok but runs hot bogs too much) and the cyclic servos and I'll be 100% happy (or so I tell my wife [emoji6] |

Here are my mods: * RJX Vector 325mm CF blades * EFlite green fiberglass canopy (it's survived one crash without a single scratch so far!!!) * Fuel tubing on the skids * Fusuno tail fin (you need a few washers/spacers to make it fit on the stock tail box) * I painted my stock horizontal tail boom fin with a Sharpie oil pen * I found some generic adhesive-backed plastic "wrap" at my LHS that I used on the boom. It was right next to the Monokote display at the shop but it was cheaper and came in long, ~6" wide strips that made it much easier to cut just what I needed. The only thing I still want to do is to put on green tail blades. That way the grass stains won't be so noticeable. ![]() |

![]() Sorry for taking so long to respond...been busy with work...then had NY first crash and rebuild so I haven't on the forums much.
They're the gear/skids for one of the Trex 450 variants. I found them at a LHS that stocks Align products. They're more solid and heavy duty than the stock gear, the aluminum skids look great, and they're lower profile so the entire heli looks more sleek. Best bang for the buck mod that I've made. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The aftermath of my first crash. I believe I had a brownout pulling out of back to back loops with stock v.1 servos and ESC at 4.8v. Bent feathering shaft, bent main shaft, stripped main gear, 3 cyclic servos shot, bent tail boom, and cracked fiberglass canopy. |

![]() ![]() ![]() And it rises from the ashes, better than ever. This was my first rebuild, so it was quite the learning experience [emoji33] . But, after quite a bit of reading, and some trial and error, I got it all set up properly. Also took the opportunity to make a few upgrades. I got rid of most of the v.1 garbage, so, new Spektrum mg cyclic servos, loctite mod on 440 motor (it'll be the next thing being replaced), helical main gear and pinion, Align DS525M tail servo, and flipped the switch on the ESC from 4.8 to 6v. The DS525M is a beast! It's the same size as the AR7200 if not bigger, and about 3 times the weight of the stock plastic fantastic tail servo, so it looks a bit ridiculous mounted on the tail of a 450 x. But, for the money, it is a powerhouse and at 6v close enough in speed to the stock one. My tail authority is insane, and piros are scary fast and snappy compared to stock. |
