How much pitch are you running?

We have a 12s 600 that burns up the sky like nobody's business. I'd like to see someone fly it that knew what they were doing! I estimate it hits a top speed of over 100 mph, but this hasn't been confirmed yet. There are plans to mount a gps to it to know for sure. The cool thing is that it does not bog! The only significant mod is the DFC head. All else is pretty normal setup. Forgot to mention that the HS is 2350 and I can hold full collective for climbouts and high speed passes. It gets a little touchy at high speed. Video to come soon

sweet! power to spare! what brand lipos and what capacity lipo you running?

Good old Turnigy blues, 3000mAh 2x6S 30-40C. Putting around 25-2700 back into each pack but I think that's the weak link right now.
They never come down hot, just a little warm, would love to try a set of TP, Hyperion or the new Gensace.
Still trying to nail the governor, seems to overspeed a little with an unloaded rotor.

Wish I could get 14* out of the 600Pro. The geometry get's funky if I try to run more than 13.5collective and 12.5~13* cyclic at one time. Mostly due to the arms binding on the servo cases.

Grats on having one fast bird. Now if you get any plankers giving you a hard time just challenge them to some pylon races

Funky geometry is ok, because it's rare that you will ever use ful collective and full cyclic simultaneously. From what I see, having 14deg collective on the dfc600 allows about 10deg cyclic at the extremes. Which is plenty for stabilization and quick maneuvers.

So I still set up with 14deg/10-13degrees

Look closely at those meter readings. It's showing 16 degrees both ways. This is a FBL head, so binding is not an issue. We can set it for 24 degrees and it would work, but you couldn't move the stick very much. The heli can be flown with the collective maxed out and it's not cavitating. It gets a bit hard to control at max airspeed, and the nose needs to be down quite a bit to keep it from climbing. Surprisingly, it's quite manageable in a hover, even with no curve dialed into the radio.

Yes we saw that. Just using 14deg as an example. Also since you're using the original trex 600, you don't have the binding issue 600pro guys like me experience, so you can achieve a higher pitch safely.

kimmik, are you using the DFC shaft? I cut & drilled my 600N shaft to the same dimensions from the top bearing to jesus bolt. Eddge chickened out on his and had me cut his a few mm longer, something about boomstrikes got him nervous

Ahh i guess that extra few mm, and the indirect swash drive allowed much greater swash travel.

Yes im using the stock dfc shaft. I figure the stiff dampers and my flying will not be enough to boomstrike.

Nervous? Yeah, that's me! I just wanted my swash closer to the center of travel to allow a little adjustment on the links.

It's not boom strikes I am worried about. It's ground strikes that scare me!

13 degrees collective and 11 degrees cyclic w/DFC head

I have the 600EFL pro combo, no DFC, and I can't get more than -+100 collective and 9 cyclic. It's binding the servo arm to the servo case. Is there a cure to this? does DFC head make it better, don't want though to upgrade to DFC yet.
