Good Idea and a simple solution.
As long as it works, does it really need to be shiny shiny?? Let's face it, who's gonna see it 50 foot in the air?
Cheers

Some other things you could try to improve motor cooling.
  • Mount the battery pack under the frame
  • Make an air vent in the canopy to increase airflow to the motor

Ya, I run my batt on the bottom. 2650 6 cell, with the Turnigy 1600kv motor. (no canopy vent) Half the time, I'm not running with a canopy on anyways

Default Heat Sink Efficiency

Something to think about is that heat sinks radiate heat better when black than when shiny. It's not intuitive, but a black painted heat sink actually eliminates heat faster than a shiny silver one!

Black heatsinks are only better for passive heatsinks. They rely on emitting the heat energy as infrared light. When air is forced over the fins it is actually the contact between air and heatsink that is transferring heat away. Making it black will have a negligible effect as the motor is spinning air over the fins.
