Default Blue Arrow Tail Servo

I installed a Blue Arrow Tail servo last week, and I was very unimpressed with tail wag issue I had. However, after turning down the gain on the 3 in 1, I have to say I'm impressed. I had a MicroHeli rotary servo mount, but the Blue Arrow is a little too big for it to fit. If you cut a regular 130x tail servo mounting bracket in half it will do the job nicely. I had a broken bracket I cut in half. Then I used that with a good mounting bracket. That way I didn't have to destroy my good mounting bracket in case this whole thing didn't work, and I had to back out.

For anyone thinking about this mod, it worked out great for me, and it is about 8 bucks at HK.

Thumbs up Good info!

I like to know I have options and should probably order a couple now just to make sure I have some. But, I think I'll wait as I just received my Turnigy TGY-1290P that I'm going to try out. Thanks again for the test run with the servo and relaying your info to the group. A RELIABLE and cheaper option is always good!

I also made a short video just to show the tail actually works with that servo.

Looks good. Have you had a chance to try some fast tail first flight? I tried a smaller HK servo on the tail before and it worked hovering and flying around. But, the minute I tried a tail down funnel it couldn't hold the tail and it was the same in tail first flight.

I'm not great at tail first flight, but I will try it tonight.

Was great to meet you tonight. Hopefully I can see your blue arrow servo in person soon.

Well tonight wasn't good. I did have some drift in reverse flight. I turned up the gain and that fixed it, but it started a bit of a tail wag. I am not convinced that it's not the way I mounted it. Anyway a hard crash followed that broke the tail fin cracked the canopy pretty good, and it may have cracked the tail boom. I'm done with this. I had it for sale, but I'm dropping the price and getting it gone. Want a heli at a good price George? Make me an offer.

You weren't supposed to crash it before I could see it fly?? Let me think about it, I have one parts 130 now. Earlier today I realized I signed up to help a friend move Saturday morning. Not sure when I'll get to the field.
