Default Worth Every Penny

This evening I had a bad crash with my mCPX. Main gear popped off completely and I have no idea where the lower bearing went. Luckily I had a spare, popped everything back together and went for another flight.

I wasn't getting much lift so double checked the main gear and tried again. Got it up when suddenly it started to climb and then stopped at a high hover. It had drifted and I tried to ease it back towards me but all it did was flip then was hovering inverted at 30' in the air.

Now I have just started doing inverted hovers and they are nowhere near as good as this was doing on its own. But I was starting to worry and decided it was time to hit TH and just let it plummet to the pavement.

I did the dreaded walk of shame and l looked things over at the scene. The two things I noticed were that the collar was slipped a little bit up and that one link was missing entirely. I thought that it was possible that either of these may have been the cause of my problem but it was starting to get dark anyway. I packed up and headed home.

I replaced the missing link and the other that was bent. Adjusted the collar. Grabbed a battery and hoped for the best. My preflight revealed the real cause of my troubles. No response on the elevator servo.

I expected at best that I had stuffed up the servo or at worst the main board. What I found was even better. The servo plug was backed out just enough for an intermittent connection. I then proceeded to hover out a pack issue free.

I am still completely astonished at how stable it was with only two working cyclic servos. This entire heli costs less than a beastx FBL but is more tolerant of issues and just as stable.

+1 !! V2? Overs speeding is causing a vib probably.

Bunny.
Don't fly it like a flybared heli. Just let it do it's own thing
Within reason of course.

Yup pretty durable little beasties eh?

Tried doing a flip the other day and it fell 30' straight on the head and blades. Still hovered even though the main gear was 1/2 off. Silly me I forgot to hit idle up and when inverted lost all power.... Whoops!

Did you get your tail mod figured out?

My biggest problem is tail blow out with heavy combined cyclic and collective use. The tail and main motor just don't seem powerful enough for those of us without the finer controls.

Yeah, that was just the hot glue wasn't holding the plug in. Switched to shoe goo and all good.

What might help to prevent bogging the motor on your flips is changing the pitch curve to 20-50-80 instead of 0-50-100. Then as you get used to it you can slowly work your way back. If you jam full collective you won't be bogging and lose the tail.
