On JR and savox/align servos you will need either a buffer pack or need to turn the bec down to like 5.6v on the jive bec or you will risk the bec resetting causing temp loss of controls and potential brown outs. I run a jive on a fusion50 and it works great on lv servos.

Just use a LiFe pack and be done with it No need for BEC or BUG

For a long time now I have been using JR8717's HV and 8917's HV on a direct 2S settup and no issues at all.

One of my friend is testing for Hitech and he told me that BEC is good for the health of the servos. Not using BEC is just fine but servos life span becomes shorter! You can hardly notice this test unless you SLEEP EAT & FLY becouse it requires lots of flyng.

Saeed.

Using that same logic, if you do that much flying then you're going to need to replace servos sooner regardless. I only do on average 5 flights a month (terrible, I know!) so it won't make much difference to me. LiFe packs start at 7.4v, but drop to 6.6 very quickly and stay there most of the cycle so it's fairly consistent voltage unlike a direct lipo.

A fully charged 2S pack goes up to 8.4V. Four flights max and I will replace it with another one. With the current servos and ESC cooling fan, they drop to 7.6V. Never had issues!

I have to say, I'm straight lipo power, too. I have my Vortex set so it won't signal readiness at 7.4vdc and below, so I know by that when it's time to charge/swap. I just think it's more reliable in the long run. I wouldn't trust an ESC's BEC because of the varying currents required.

So really we're doing the same thing but I chose LiFe (choose a big ****ing TV - Trainspotting ref ) as my servos aren't HV

I'm not saying it right but I have over 100 flights with a 2s Lipo direct to my Savox 1258's. I can't smack the sh*t out of it but I do put it through its paces. I had to replace my Savox 1290 when I went to 2s Lipo as it got hot on the bench so I run a torq 9088 on the tail. Saving for a set of hv servos at the moment for piece of mind but it can be done.

Trainspotting, eh? I remember parts of that movie. I definitely remember the old 80's T-Shirts with huge letters that said, 'Choose Life" ...."Franky Say..." "Just say No"... all that stuff!

My thought is this... if you can afford HV, go for HV. I don't know anything about Savox servos but it's good to know the tail's can't take 2s straight! Thanks for sharing that!

Just to update you guys, received my Rush on Friday and managed to get to maiden today Setup is exactly what I posted few days ago as follow;

Heli Jive Version 11, Mode 5
Pyro 700-520
JR8717 on cyclic and rudder ( was worry that the 8717 will not work on rudder)
Mini vbar
2x6s 5000-45C
SAB 690
SAB 105
Headspeed 2100

It fly really good, the bird feel light and the flip and roll rate is really fast but still stable. First flight was easy to get the feel of the bird but half way I and flying it thru my usual maneuvers with ease. Will definitely be one of my favorite bird for now.

Well done Alees.

That's great news! We're happy you're pleased--Welcome to the Family!

As stated before I'm concerned about your tail servo, but if you're happy then that's cool, too! Enjoy!

Just note on the tail servo. The fact that it is working, does not guarantee its best perfomance. I would never take any risk on that part. For me, the tail servo works harder than any other servos on my heli so i dont like to take chances.

Saeed.

+1 I'm afraid that servo will be over-worked and have a very short lifespan... Keep an eye and a finger on it.. Check to see if it gets hot.
