Default Clear View Settings

Hi all, I was just given a full version of Clear View for Christmas. I'm having some problems controlling the MCPx model in the sim though. Thought the major control issue is operator error, but was wondering what settings I should set in the Regular and Advanced Model settings. I can't find anything that explains these, and since I don't have a computer tx for my real heli, I don't understand all the expo settings.

Oh, and where can I get a cable to connect my Blade HP6DSM transmitter to my computer so as to use that instead of the Dynam USB controller I've been using?

We know the sim...

I've flown ClearView with the Dynam USB controller for several months and it's a decent setup. Not bad to learn the basics. My first piece of advice would be to fly the larger helis, rather than the micro helis. They will fly more realistically, more controllably, will be easier to see on the screen and most important will allow you to learn how to fly RC helis in general with less frustration,

I'm not sure what kind of trainer jack the HP6DSM has, or if it's compatible with these below, but here is a good source for USB controller cables:

Maybe not the cheapest, but feel free to search online for better prices if you don't like their prices. The Clearview website also lists this place: http://milehighwings.com/

As far as "expo" and other settings, there are some great videos here in HeliFreak, such as in Finless Bob's Helifreak Teach room, and also online, such as in YouTube that explain the concepts. Basically "expo", or modifying a control response to have an "exponential" response, is used to "soften" the stick around the center position. In other words, moving the control stick, such as for left/right, will do less near the center position than at the edges of the stick range. This helps prevent inadvertently "over controlling" the heli.

You should also be able to see the manual inside Clearview which would explain most of the settings.

Can DEVO 7 be used to play any sim, and what kind of cable is needed?

I have heard that the Walkera Devo series of transmitters does work with Phoenix RC simulator, but I have not personally tried it.

To use a Devo 7 with ClearView, one solution would be a simulator cable with built in electronics that plugs into the trainer port on the Devo 7 on one side and understands the Devo protocol and has a USB connector on the other side for the PC. There are several companies that make these kinds of cables for other transmitters, but I have not seen one yet for the Devo series. That doesn't mean they are not out there. Gonna take some looking unless someone happens to know.
