  1. Try and fly it as is. Do lower your cyclic gains to 20 before you maiden just to reduce the possibility of violent shakes. Then increase slowly and see how high you can get them.
  2. move the balls one hole closer to center and the go thru the same gain optimization process.
I think I'll try #1 1st. I'd like to hear from others who have used the CX-3X1000 / Tarot gyro on a 250. Are your links shorter than mine?

Hey guys, I have a goofy question but haven't been able to find the answer even after searching/reading various forums. Maybe I bumped into it but didn't realize it? Anyway, the only FBL controller I have ever used is the AR7200BX and I want to try the zxy-s out. Thing is that I don't understand if I need a satellite or receiver or both? I have a DX7 and I read that the zxy-s supports DSM2, but I don't fully understand what that means in regards to what to buy.

I'm ready to buy a zxy-s and am wondering what else I will need to buy to get my 450X in the air? I want to go cheap and minimal wires so any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated. I believe that I will be able to figure out how it all goes together once I have the necessary hardware in hand. Thanks ahead of time!

You'll be fine with just the ZYX-S , just make sure to get the Dongle with it, programing on the computer is much simpler than with sticks.

Not wanting to be a smart-arse, but the ZYX-S comes with the dongle and it can't be programmed with sticks.

You can either use a Rx or Sat with the DX7 (though purely sat set-up isn't as easy it seems) for a 450 I would go with a Ar6110 or similar or you could try using a sat, but it just seems slightly more involved for little pay-back (I have been meaning to try mine with a sat set-up for months, but it just works so well as it is I have left well alone )

Mike, I've seen them (-S ) for sale minus the dongle on several vendor sites.

As far as the sticks go, I personally have never even attempted it, I've always used to John.nz software. There was some talk early on about stick programing, maybe in reference to a plain ZYX ?

Apologies - I hadn't seen that, so assumed that it was now bundled - apologies

Starting with firmware v3.0x the stick programming feature has been removed to free up space for other features, such as fixed wing and quad modes and governor.

I'm stuck in the first step! I tried hovering in rate mode and I could never keep the tail facing me. One moment it's spinning left then the SLIGHTEST adjustment in my tail link rod would make it spin right. Even if I compensate with full rudder heli would spin and I'd have to land. I doubt it's a gyro problem though. Help!

Are you sure your tail compensation direction is correct? If it works in heading hold, compensation is correct and I don't know what to tell you.

That sounds more like a mechanical problem ... Check the tail grip bearings.

I've been getting my 250 mechanically perfect for the past year and a half. Looking at it right now. It's perfect. Could it be my tx? Esc?

Well, I can't really compete with "perfect", can I?

You said inputting full rudder in the opposite direction does not stop the uncontrolled piro. There's obviously something wrong there, and it's not the gyro. Look at your servo and mechanics.

Remove the main blades and the tail push rod from the servo (tail blades on). Spool up to at least 50% and move the tail push rod by hand. Does it feel smooth and light? Does it return to center by itself?

Sounds like too low gain. Try increasing your rate mode gain.

Thanks Dr M and pinguin. I'll try both I'll also post a video of the RM flight and tail servo mechanics.

On a dx6i under Gyro the 0: setting refers to normal mode gain and 1: refers to idle up right? Where can I adjust the Rate Mode gain?

The 0 setting is rate / normal mode, 1 is head hold.

i guess it depends how you set it up in the Gyro menu. Values higher than 51%=HH, and lower than 49%=RM. The further away you are from 50%, the more gain.

So if I want to be in rate mode I need to flip the gyro switch AND put the gain at 49?
