![]() Shot a video today of the Trekker cruising around at a silly headspeed of about 1280 RPM governed by the Vbar's built in governor via the HobbyWing RPM sensor. The DX8 throttle curve was at 79%. Pitch is +7 and -2.5. The 5.5 minute flight used 45% of the battery.
Will do another one today to see just how low the headspeed can be set and still keep it flyable.

![]() Hmmmmmm. How low do you think you can go?
Maybe I can get less wear if I fly it at this RPM : ) Need to ditch the CC esc at it wont go below 1490 Gov. |

![]() Don, you've flown 1280 to 1950+. Early on you mentioned 1750 as a good rpm for Sport/Scale. Now that you've flown this across such a wide range of rpms, what rpm would you suggest for:
scale only? sport only? 3D?

![]() Hey Russ,
The best thing to do is spend a day and fly the various headspeeds during your flights and find out what works for you. The Trekker flying at 1280 is night and day from the Trekker flying at 1995. Use your flight modes to set three headspeeds and experiment. You'll be amazed at how different a heli can fly by adding or subtracting 50RPM. Today I flew one flight at around 1200 and that was too slow. The heli was shaking, probably due to the rigid blade dampers. You could hardly hear it. Turning it into the wind made that bird shoot up and float like a sailplane. With the Vbar governor, I'll be flying at 1300, 1650, and 1995 Ill do another video when the weather allows it Have a good day, DOn

![]() Thanks for the shout back! That's pretty much the way my 600 is. I have three favorite RPM's on the Flight Mode switch. I was just curious what you found that works for you. Good stuff!

![]() There was no wind today so I did a "how low can it go " test.
Looks like 1066 is the lowest it will go and still take off and fly around. It was very quiet, the tail was shaking, and felt like a tank but it flew. Once it got about 20 feet out, you couldn't hear it anymore which was a little un-nerving. We are at 5300' elevation. I'm sure it would fly better at that headspeed at a lower altitude. 1280-1300 is about the sweet spot if you like that kind of flying.

![]() I'd like to get 1300 but id have to drop a tooth on the
Pinion and then I'd be giving up the rpm on the high side. Guess ill just keep the 1480 1750 and 1950 on the stock pinion. Bought the new dampers today and thrust bearings. Hopefully this takes care of the loose dampers. |

![]() Yeah, love doing some low rpm flights too!
I have an odd number of 6S lipos at the moment, so every now & then I'll run just one 6s for low rpm flight without changing tx curves. Head speed is usually 1100 on 1 6S. |

![]() Yes one 6s lipo would be very interesting! Try to track the runtime as well. Nu66ie also posted some interesting findings..........

![]() Wow, please post that 6s pack experiment as soon as you try it! Pack balance should be ok as mine is a bit tail heavy as I have the cc 160 hv sitting up on the deck behind the shaft. (Better cooling) My main packs are right up against the nose with a 2s2100 in the front. One good thing is that if I need more nose weight I can just increase the RX pack size.

![]() Waiting like a kid at Xmas! Lol. See if you can get a video on 6s. Man it must be quiet. Also a pound lighter. I'm in at 13 pounds even. I bet it will fly on 6s. Nu66ie gave good info on low rpm on 12s.

![]() 1300 with the CC ICE2 120? Are you using the stock set up gearing? Not sure but I do not think when I was doing setup I could get good governing below 1400. At any rate I will have to try the lower head speed some more.

![]() I am not using the Castle governor, I installed an RPM sensor and activated the Vbar governor. It does a much better job at keeping a constant headspeed. I actually took it down to 1066 and is would barely get airborne. You could barely hear it.
