I'd say you passed with flying colors. I, on the other hand learned a lot.

So Scott, I just watched your awesome Tech Tip on the tail. I went back and completely re-did my tail and now it is like butter. My pins were still a problem so I sanded them down a bit, but now it is perfect. I updated my writeup to direct people to your vid prior to doing that step.

What are the servo horns of choice with the JR DS8717 cyclic servos?
How about for the BLS 251 tail servo?

I'm glad it helped, Rick. The tail on this helicopter is really something to behold. When done right, it's easily the smoothest tail assembly I've ever done. 93 flights on mine and it looks brand new.

I can't really comment on the Futaba servo as I don't have one, but I do know for cyclics, the QuickUK JR splined metal wheel is perfect on my JR8917HV's. I've had them on with two FBL systems, BeastX and Spartan Vortex-VX1 with no issue. Plus the 12mm spacing is perfect.

You got a link to a good place to buy the QuickUK JR splined metal wheel? Anybody else like another better?

Ask and you shall receive...

https://www.readyheli.com/H1081-BK-Q...k_p_32900.html

This is the exact wheel I used. It comes in colors, too.

Gotta love it, bro! Thanks for the write ups!

I used the clear tube on one bearing/rubber at a time. I scored the torque tube with an Xacto blade and used CA. I used oil in the boom the first time I installed the torque tube and silicone spray the last time. I like the spray better. The one I had a little trouble with was the last bearing/rubber... it kept going in too far. After three or four tries, I got it right.

Looks like you had the same results I had with the pins. Perfect the first time. Also, when you install your servos, you can make sure you have the links right on the bell cranks the same way--just center your servos first without the frame zero tools. If you get your servos centered, don't be surprised if the links pop right on the balls.

You may also not have to put in any subtrim with your FBL unit. On both the BeastX and Vortex, I had to put in no subtrim. Amazing... just amazing!

Did you do size your links?

By the way, or ordered 3 of the horns you told me about, and 4 batteries at ReadyHeli. Still not sure what horn I will use on the Futab BLS251.

No. I just let them wear in. I get a little servo singing off center, but not much. I have thought about it, but it flies great like it is and I don't want to break it trying to fix something that doesn't need fixin'.

Lengths are all box stock from the first time I built the helicopter except the elevator links... if you read the build thread, Dom was right. I had them off. They're all box stock and the frame zero tools do their job perfectly.

On the Vortex install, I did have to lengthen one link, I think one turn, but I didn't use the frame zero tools for that setup. Just trying different things.

OK, I think I will let them wear in as well. If I have a problem, I'll go the dodgeboy tool route.

Rick you shouldnt have any problem with not sizing them. like scott said while its on the bench the servos will make a little noise for a few flights. the first go around i didnt resize any links and i had no issues. i think after 4 or 5 flights the servos settled down and there was less buzzing going on while on the bench

Default Ricks Rush 750 build thread

What about the couple reports of cracked radius arms? Was this corrected? Should those be sized to prevent the cracking?

We've had no reports saying they had been corrected. My guess is that it was just a manufacturing issue since it hasn't shown up very often at all. Those are two links I'd leave alone, as well. Reason being is that they will likely be the first links to wear in.
