Smile spectrum module in Futaba 9c

Im thinking of trying a spectrum module in a futaba 9c.Is it worth it or is it a better idea to just invest in a Dx7. What are some advantages and disadvantages??

Module in your radio:

Up side - same radio, same programming that you are used to. Overall price. You keep the throttle controlled timer

Down - poor CCPM performance that the 9C is known for, you lose Model Match and Servo Synch. Many people find the JR programming easier and more logical.

My choice, DX7 or X9303.

I was wondering this very question.
We know the standard 9C has poor (the worst) latency issues - but it is a little better when 'Spektrumized - is it not?
So, ok, its not gonna be up there with the x9303 or a DX7 for latency, but is it acceptably improved with the module?
The lack of a throttle controlled timer on the x9303 is a REAL turn off for me as I do a lot of motor on/motor off e-planker/glider stuff and I kinow I'll forget to keep flicking an extra switch on and off.... So- thats why I like the 9C especially.
So, it all comes down to that latency - how much improved by the module, is it?

The module will not help things where latency is concerned, it uses the ppm stream from the radio to encode the data and turn it into RF. The latency is introduced where the radio processor figures up the stick position, turns it into a PPM stream and outputs it to the module.
