I know right....But we will be glad we held out full CNC head new motor design carbon tail boom and fins 10 amp BEC tail servo in the frame fiberglass canopy ++++ for a few bucks more.
I know its hard watching the 500x videos but just think of it as above.

Nice flying jchandler. Your flying inspires me.
I also had my maiden 500 flight today. Just hovering and circuits.
I was impressed with the quality and build of the 500.
My flying conditions were a little better 75 and sunny.
Keep up the good videos.

JC whats your thoughts on the battery, did it seem ok for you?

I assume the battery is good though, I don't mind off brands but I try to stick to the eflite ones.

E flight packs are good packs and if you stay within the recommended charge rating they will have good power for a long time

I only fly eflight in all my helis. I tried off brand once years ago and learned my lesson. But thats just my experience. Others have had good luck with the less expensive packs.

I suggest you take a look at other brand packs. Turnigy NanoTech is superior to the E-Flite packs in every regard, and for half the price. E-Flite thinks WAAY too highly of their packs, especially given their performance. They're not terrible by any stretch, but not worth double+ the price of other brands.

Eflite has gotten much better in the battery department over the last short while.
Nanotech...no way. IMHO you are way better off with Eflites than nano's. I would suggest another brand if you want to go cheaper and there are many, many others

Let me know how your nano's do on your goblin, and Ill let you know how my pulse and zippies do

I've run Eflites and I've run 3S and small and large HK 6S lipos.

The HK batteries had more punch than the Eflites and were 1/4...that is right...1/4 the price of the Eflites.

A QUARTER THE PRICE.

I have not had a single HK battery puff and I've had 30 of them.

I run HK 6S lipos on my X5 and they fly great, don't get hot and I thrash the crap out of them. I couldn't have afforded to buy and fly an X5 if I had to rely on batteries priced like the Eflite units.

This hobby is pricey enough without wasting money on lipos IMHO.

What was that you say, 1/4 the price.... I didnt say you must buy eflite...just said there is way better batteries on the cheaper end.

I also have purchased lots of $'s worth of HK batteries over the past few years.
I have owned many Nanotech and many of the Turnigy and zippies as well. On smaller batteries the nano's are ok, I have had decent luck up to about 3s1800mAh. But overall the average IR is under rated and the constant/max output are way over rated. IHMO your better off buying one of their other brands of batteries than nano's.

I don't think personally there are better batteries at the cheaper end. There are better batteries I concur but cheaper or even at the same price as the HK? Hmm, not that I've found or heard of.

And yes...1/4 the price

Why pay AUD $60 for an EFlite battery when I can buy the same quality battery with the same power and flight times for $14.95? Ok I do have to solder a .20c connector onto it so it's 5 min of my time and the price goes up to $15.15c but it's still a bargain IMHO.

I still am of the mindset that I'd rather pay for a power train upgrade than buy a number of expensive lipos. Hence my 6S 450X.

I bought a CC Ice Lite 50 ESC, a 2010 Scorp motor and six 6S lipos for the price of 6 3S Eflite batteries. That is a setup that you can clearly see a difference in performance and the batteries after hundreds of grueling flights have not puffed in any way.

Even if you did (and I say you don't) get better performance out of the Eflites, do you get 50% more power and greater torque?

If I had the most powerful setup in a heli airframe that I could realistically and reliably cram in and I still needed more battery, I would then cough up for some fancy lipos but that would be about it.

I see lipos as consumable items that don't provide the night and day performance increases that people frequently claim. I say save your money unless you need that extra 10% that a high priced battery delivers and you can't upgrade the power system.
