Very nice Edsel, thanks.

Very nice flyin, love the style. Smooth, controlled and definitely not too smacky. Looks like you got that bird as locked in as Fort Knox.

Thanks, guys. It's all stock except carbon fiber edge tail blades. It had some wag in the beginning but gain adjustments got it out.

Thanks for the compliments!

I thought not. I tried to install the aluminum tail pieces a couple of weeks ago, merely for bling factor. Mine were manufactured incorrectly so I said heck with it and put the stock plastic one back on. While I was at it I was going to replace bearings, just because. Wasn't necessary at all, they were very tight, smooth and didn't feel much different than new bearings. I've got about 50-ish flights on mine.

Sorry to hear that your metal bits were faulty. You probably should send them back imho.

I'm all for keeping any heli as stock and bling-free as possible. Just add bits that actually help for your flying style.

In my case I found that the metal main grips make my 500x a lot more solid in windy/gusty conditions because it takes the flex out of the main grip/swash link.

Also, I work my tail pretty hard and have found that Edge 72mm cf tail blades, the metal tailcase, metal tail pitch lever, and metal pitch slider have improved my tail response and increased my tail case bearing life. The metal tail grips were pure bling though, lol!

No right/wrong answers, just whatever works best for you imho.

BTW, nice smooth flying jchandler, and I always love your wife's commentary, lol!

Cheers,
TomC

Oh ya they got returned, hobby shop owner was pissed that two sets did the same thing. Traded them for the two new glass canopies.

The owner of my LHS's 3rd and 4th flights with a stock 500X in winds gusting up to 30+mph. For such a light heli that is BNF it handles wind well
