The great part is once it is registered, it is just as easy as it was before, you just have to log in and get a key.

At least you get quality updates from Mikado and the crooked counterfeiters that steal software are going to find this very complicated for their junk that was copied because with out the firmware updates the fakebar owners do not get a free ride!

I have paid a lot of money to have my V-bars upgraded. I am happy Mikado put this protection in place.
I disagree with this, I do believe something needs to be done but I'm don't think this is going to help stop piracy. Pad-locks only keep the honest people out. If I was new and didn't know how well vbar perform's this would have made me sell mine or return it out of frustration, I have already seen it in the forums.

The main thing is we need to be able to log into area specific site. I'm not sure as all my vbar are pro already but do you need to log into one site (mikado-heli.com.hk) to buy pro software then go to another (shop.mikado-heli.de) to register and then another (vstabi.info) to activate. this seems a little overkill to me. especially for a newcomer.

I'm very happy with my vbar. We need a better solution or else the market will turn out of mikado's favor with new people coming in, they will not tolerate this as their are many capable units on the market now.

My 2 cents, Sorry.

Troy

Default Give Mikado a chance I did.

Troy,

I also was not happy with this new change at all, see my post #15 on February 2,2013
Mr.Mel did answer my questions right away. I watched the video again and set up my account just like the video described.

I had 2 accounts so I e-mailed Mikado asking what I should do, they combined my accounts into 1 so now I just log on to the site that is on the video, and everything is in there.

I am just a customer so I can't speak for Mikado but I did get a very fast answer when I e-mailed them with my questions.

I think they are aware of the problems we are having and I hope your questions are answered by Mikado, maybe they need to make another video explaining in more detail answers your questions.

I really like there product so I am willing to give them a chance to keep making the changes they need to protect there software.

I do agree with you it is a changing world as far as other products on the market so many choices are available now, Mikado has to compete and keep customers happy.

One thing we have that the others don't is Mr.Mel, he has helped everyone so much with his videos and answers to V-Bar owners questions & setups. It will take the competition a long time to catch up to him!

Just my thoughts!

Mike

Only for the older customer, .hk site is gone so if you purchase pro it's registered correctly and that works at vstabi.info directly.
Also when you purchase pro it's not auto-enabled for 3 days.

Remember, it's to protect YOUR vbar, it's not a padlock to prevent piracy, but to make sure no-one sends in a clone with YOUR serial and demand replacement etc.

I purchased 3 Pros for my Mini-Vs......what is the auto-enable feature?

Have never heard of that?

Is that new?

Thanks

ok so I have registered. Created my account cause my original login and password I had when I upgraded to Pro a few years ago didn't work. Luckily they still had my email account so under "my devices" it shows "standard vstabi with Specktrum" -- shouldn't it say Pro !!

That's not the problem.... I was still using 5.3.1 firmware and wanted to upgrade to 5.3.4.
Download latest software once I tried to upgrade firmware I get nothing but "errors"

looks like once you registered things don't get activated right away.
It took about 2 hrs after till I was able to upgrade my firmware so all good now.

maybe the server is getting major hits .. hope there prepared for all this

I just ran into this today and found it was a terrible and frustrating user experience. It's really a shame to punish paying customers this way in order to fight piracy/clones, if that is indeed the reason. It seems like there must be a simpler way to go about it.

I bought a full size vbar with pro from a user here, downloaded the PC software and have been using it just fine, no firmware updates to the vbar, just the software on my PC.

Then I just bought a mini vbar from the same guy. Went to connect it to my PC to set it up and got an error message that said "this firmware version is not compatible with the PC software version. Please find the correct PC SW version for the firmware or update firmware..." or something like that. I have the 5.3.4 software and the mini said it was 5.2 Pro.

Then when I clicked online update it showed the S/N and a list of different firmware with a checkbox next to the Mini Blueline Pro 5.2.xx or whatever. But when I selected any of them from the list I got another error message like "firmware error: option not available" or something like that. So not knowing what I was doing and finding all different kinds of instructions on vstabi and Mr Mels videos, I first went to register the vbars to my vstabi account, it said the email didnt match the files, so I attached a log file with the registration request. Then I found in the help section something that said if you get a firmware error, download & install the recovery file, then re-download & install the firmware. So DL'd & installed the recovery file and now the vbar wont initialize and the light doesnt blink, it says its now version 4.0 and I still cant download any firmware updates, still get the same error and the checkbox is gone by the 5.2 pro version in the update list. When I click the info button it says "pro is already on this device - dont buy it again"

Anyway, I'm lost. After reading this thread I'm thinking I need to get a license key before I can download and update the mini to set it up? Is that correct? Or do I need a different software program installed for each vbar? Man, I'm so lost and I hope I didnt freaking fry or ruin this mini and waste the money I spent on it but then also have to buy another!!??

Can someone please help me figure out what the heck is going on!?

Sorry this is so long but I am so freaking confused!

Disregard all that "freaking out" above!!

Thats what it was, needing the license key to update the firmware. I went back to try & register them since I had the previous owner's email but they had already been re-registered to me and added to my account. A simple license key request and I had an email with a DL link, 90 secs to install and I'm up & running.

The message on vstabi said they would get back to me in a few days and it was like 15' before they were registered to my account. The license key came immediately. I just needed to slow down, read a bit better, and be patient! Thanks Mikado/vstabi for hooking me up so quick!

Trippledigitss has it. It's not really that difficult. Just read the instructions on vstabi.de and it works just as described and you'll have no trouble. I registered five or six of mine and some were purchased secondhand and it was pretty straightforward. All the registrations and license keys came within minutes. No problem. Really, it's not that difficult.

That said, I agree with one of the previous posts about having to go to a couple of different websites to do a PRO upgrade as overly complex. I'm a firm believer that anything that's should be simple but requires a video to explain it isn't as user friendly as it could or should be. Some simplification is in order for sure.

Default Video: New license manager for upgrading VBar firmware

Just stand behind Mikado guys. I have friends overseas who tell me you can get the clones over there.. I paid for all my Vbar i don't like thieves stealing it... Why hasn't Mikado fixed the two website thing? I dunno, I think business isn't booming... Times are tough, it's a lot of work??? I dunno I am not a rep for them but I know for sure it isn't because they don't care.. I think we will see a new solution to this and the time windows we must request. For now as stated it isn't so bad, I love seeing my units under my name too. Lets see someone steal my vbar, ok let's not see that lol

what is a "FUBAR?"

Also my full size silverline with pro shows up on my account as Standard VStabi with Spektrum, is this correct?

If i click on the Options buttom I see a Version 5.3 Pro (Regular Spektrum), does this mean I'm okay to upgrade now?

I have 5.3.1 and its flying fine, with all this confusion people having I don't want to "fix" my vbar when its flying fine.

Can someone help me verify if I have done the registration correctly?

I just bought a used Vbar and the serial number isn't matching the email address of the previous owner. How do I request the form or whatever to upload a log to prove it's mine now?

trying to upgrade an older ('09) black/sats unit that i purchased new from RH late in '09. leaving the email blank does not work; using any of my known addresses --including the one i'm logged in to vstabi--does not work; using the default info@vstabi-de does not work;

uploading a .pdf, .jpg, or .vbr file does not work.

WTF do i do? i've spent 5 hours on this already and am no closer than when i started.

Default First time with Mini Vbar

Hi,

I'm new to Mini Vbar..(from Singapore)

I just bought a mini vbar from someone.. He told me his is already upgraded to "pro".. what does this mean?

Can any kind soul walk me through what I need to do from here?

I have already text him to transfer to me..
I just need to give him my email right?
does it mean that Mikado will send me an email.. and go from there..

Or do I still need to go do a registration there?
where can I find my S/N for my mini vbar?
do I need to download a program to run this? where do I download it from?

The attached is what I get.. seems to be the right amount of things..

thanks

Been awhile since I had to deal with this but I will try & help.

#1 - Pro means expanded version of the software that allows more options for setup, style etc. Basic/express will probably be fine as you learn it but pro is better

#2 Go to vstabi and download the PC software (unless you are using a tablet or something, then download the vbar app, think you need bluetooth module for that though?) Website is here http://www.vstabi.info/en/node/662

Download the latest version and then connect to your PC/device via USB - you will need to power the vbar with a battery or esc to connect to the computer! I think at that point is when the registration may come into play but just follow the steps on vstabi and if you have the prior owners email put that in when they ask for it. May need to save & upload the vbar files to show you now have it. If you have to send a request to vstabi just be patient, they will get back to you pretty quick. I think it said 48 hours but they emailed me back in about 15'. The S/N will be in the info once you connect it to the PC

Now, take about half of what I said and ignore it, since its probably wrong! Anyway, hHope that gets you going!

Oh yeah, I think you may also need to register a username on Mikado (or maybe vstabi) Maybe not... but its free & quick so you might as well anyway.

Once you get the software you can go ahead and get it registered without waiting for the seller to transfer. Just connect to the Vbar via the software and pull up a log and save it to your desktop (or someplace). Then go to register your device and once you put the serial number in leave the email address of the previous owner blank and click Next. That will bring up another screen where you can attach the log file and submit it as proof of ownership. Last few I've done I used that method and each one got registered in my name within 24 hours.
