I use a Weller butane iron with the torch tip. The general thoughts were that its possible my joints were wiggled before fully set. I'll be leaving my helis for this week and hopefully come back with a clear head.

Same method I use. My 60W iron won't heat 10g up quickly enough, so I've switched to the butane. For the record, this is the first joint I've had fail in 20 years of soldering. I'm not saying I've never soldered some crap, but I make sure it's right before it goes into service.

Not only did I have one fail, I had two. At the same time. On the same application. And it caused a crash. I'm not happy, and I'm thankful I'm going on vacation to distract me.

With the method I described above the wire is still hot enough when I introduce it to the tip and cup that it flows again in a second.

Something i want to share, is with any soldering iron, you will have MUCH better results if you use a larger tip on it. Tips are pretty cheap. I think I got my larger tip for a dollar or something like that.

I have a Weller 40 or 60watt iron, can't remember exactly, and was having trouble getting the 10AWG wires and EC5 connectors to heat up properly. After switching the tip for a larger one, It is super easy! I experience the same thing that Bryan is talking about.
