Nah... I gave that up when Beta 1 went back to HH. The one I have now is good.

I'm definitely interested in how this flies with 3S. I bet you'll be able to govern without overheating ez.

Is it required to run a satellite receiver with the Tarot XYZ-s?? Thinking about trying one in my 130x just because I like to play with it. Once I got the shims in the tail and main shaft it has been flying great and not stripping gears.

Yes, ZYX-S has no receiver. You can get Orange R100 from HK and bind it directly with firmware 3.5. Didn't work for me with firmware 4.01.

BMC, my beast lives. Attached everything onto the frame, motor runs, servos run, kinda went though the setup in ZYX software, almost good to go.

Do your servos move in jerk-like fashion? I notice a lot of delay between input and servo movement too, not as much delay on the motor, but still noticeable (could just be the HK ESC). Receiver flashed every time I give input, I guess this is normal... any tips for me?

if the rx flashes something is drawing too much current, 100% of the times that has happened to me it has been a dying servo, Unplug each servo and figure out which one it is.
Now it could also be insufficient bec though, remind me of your set up?

I think it's the BEC, I have crappy HK BlueSeries ESC, ZYX-S and Orange R100 receiver. Motor kicks too when I rotate the heli around and servos feel underpowered.

I'm curbing this project for now. Spent 7 hours today soldering servos and setting up ZYX. I might pick this up later but with a more user-friendly flybarless system and a better ESC. I just don't have the time or patience anymore for this. I spent less time setting up my nitro 30 back in the day with no YouTube than I do now setting up 130X. I like flying, 7 hours curbed behind the desk is just not for me :p

It'll be a good learning experience, take a breather and get back at it. Mine flies great, you just need the right components and a good set up, just like any other heli.

and... another elevator servo failure, got 52 flights out of this one...
Slammed into the ground mid piro flip and completely broke the solid carbon shaft at the collar and broke the ar bracket.

Do you think it's the higher voltage that's causing these to fail?

no i think it's just a crap shoot. I've had 4 sevo failures since the conversion, a couple of those had 200 plus flights already. It's no better or worse since the conversion.

You were right, I cooled off and I'm back at it again.

Took off servos one by one to find a bad one. No blinking on receiver with 2 servos, solid light, and then suddenly it started blinking again after I moved the servos for 20 seconds or so. Took off all servos: still blinks. Took off motor: blinks. Fresh battery: blinks. ESC is warm for some reason, but not hot. Replaced the sat adapter wire to receiver: blinks.

So right now it's either the BEC not supplying enough power to receiver, or R100 itself. What do you think? HK BEC is "rated" by them at 1A, but I have a feeling when it warms up that value drops to something which is barely enough to power ZYX-S itself. I have a feeling these things are designed for multi-rotors, but not single heli use.

Alright, I tried another HK BEC, without soldering a diode to drop the voltage and the receiver is fine right now: solid light.

Do you think I should try running servos at 5V? I think Fabian originally used a step-down diode because his R100 receiver wouldn't work/bind, but mine works fine.

You should ask fabian about that orange rx, I have no experience with it. I didn't realize you were using an external bec, thought you were running off the esc's bec. Make sure you removed the red wire from the esc. If you are running a hk 5v/3a bec I think your good there, check on that rx, could be bad or maybe just doesn't need the adapter, all that is is as voltage regulator, spektrum sat runs at 3.3v.

I wouldn't risk running the servos at 5v, operting range is 3.2 to 4.2v, but if you want to take one for the team I'll wait for your report

A slightly unrelated question: do your Lynx blade grips rotate freely? I have a set on mCPx BL and they're fine, no slop, but free rotation, but on 130X the Lynx grips are really right! They can move, but I see this tightness causing some issues in flight.

I run dfc with ultra dampers in both 130's, both turn freely, I did have one set of dampers that would not turn freely and I just changed them out with the other pair in the package, could be the issue.

Default Finally 3s!!

Here is a longwinded overview of my latest set up with the Eox 1102 3s motor, sorry not much of a film maker, especially with a few cheap beers in me, but it's easier than typing everything. I'll try to get some flight videos posted soon.
The motor is a beast, running 5200 rpms, ungoverned 100% flat with 111mg and 9t pinion, 1102 is the same diameter as 1101, so with 9t pinion there is still plenty of clearance with the elevator servo horn in the stock frame. 5800kv, 150w, 2mm shaft tapered to 1.5mm for pinion. Ending temps are in the 130f range.

Here are some expected head speeds with gearing options
111/9t- 5250
111/10t- 5800
111/11t- 6380, I don't dare try...
116/10t-5600rpms

So for those that choose to run governed, looks like 111/10t, 85% should yield around 5000 rpms. It is possible for some insane individuals to achieve head speeds over 6000 rpms...

Blade 130x with Lynx EOX 1102 5800kv 3s Motor (13 min 15 sec)
