Default Using the DS-16 with a sim

I use it for Phoenix.

It's supposed to work for RF too, but I don't have RF so I don't know if it does.

Perfectly.

No battery required - USB port supplies some 5 volts...

You'll need to get one of those clone dongles, and if you don't already have an original dongle, that's not very nice or ethical, or indeed legal. But I'm not going to tell anyone what to do.

I wasn't having great luck trying to get this done with the cable (not sure why), but when I soldered it up using your method it works perfectly! I also like the fact that i can just unplug the reciever and plug the cable back in for my 11x.

I got my DS-16 today and love it! Although like everyone else has said it is a very steep learning curve. I only have 1 receiver AtM, so i will use it with the sim until I put it in my Goblin. I still have alot of learning to do with this TX and would much rather it cause me to crash on the Sim vs my Goblin. I plan on getting more receivers very soon to swap my Fleet over. I am just having a hard time deciding on what to get for the Sim. I can't decide if I want to go cheap and never use it for anything but the sim or if i want to go with something like another R7 so if i ever need it for a heli it's available. I'm also considering going with something like an R6L. That way it will still be plenty for a mid sized or smaller heli, but yet still be pretty inexpensive. I am still getting adapted to not having quite as much disposable income as before. I still make the same per hour at my new job, but don't have to work crazy over time anymore (Thank God!)

I also want to reiterate what Groucho said..... If you do not own a retail copy of the sim you plan on doing this with please don't do it. I do understand that pirated versions of software are usually not discussed on this forum and it for good reason, but this is one exception. If you own the retail version of the software it is full legal and in my opinion ethical to buy one of these for modding. If you do not own the software then please don't do this. You would be doing nothing less than stealing from the software manufacturers and to an extent the whole RC community since you wouldn't be doing your part to help fund future development. I know most people who would consider doing this won't think twice about it, but please take it to heart and reall think about it before you do it. It is 100% illegal although 99.9%of the people who use pirated versions like this never get caught it is still completely morally wrong.

I did the connector with the dongle, yes I own a real phoenix. My question is how do you set the radio up to work when you plug the servo wire into the 6th channel.

My SimStick is now a relic.

I'm using a China dongle + Jeti receiver with Phoenix as well (I own a license). That works great!

I'm considering purchasing RealFlight, though, but I don't want to use the Interlink as a "dongle". Is anyone using a clone dongle with a licenced RealFlight installation?

The Best Way of using Phoenix is using a Sim Stick like product and a dedicated RSat2.
The easiest is using USB and the "loader"

What's hard about putting the ppm connector in?
Then it will work just like it should

Not wireless (but cheap).

It is much nicer flying wirelessly against a big screen TV.

BTW if anyone wants a Simstick I'd be happy to sell mine.
