Default The First Ever Phoenix Colorscheme To Download

Hi all, here we go, the color scheme for Trex600 nitro red,................

Extract zip file that contain BITMAP file (.bmp)to ...\PhoenixRC\resources\objects\aircraft\helicopte rs\Performance\trex600nitro_red

Replace your trex600nitro_red.bmp file (encrypted bitmap).
This all just regular bmp files, you can edit to your own private/non-commercial purpose,....

Cheers.

DeVIN.

How did you de-crypte the bmp files? Or did you make your own? I would REALLY dig a 450 canopy bmp I can edit. I HATE that white canopy.

Ok Devin how the hell did you manage that one bud ? I'm very impressed.

What the secret to opening up the Phoenix bitmap files ? are you using the AFPD tmt to BMP program ?

Cheers

Hi sparx,....Already make colorscheme for all sim out there (see my post in Reflex XTR T600nitro here), just try from G3,..... do recalculate about file size and resolution for bmp,....find for 1024x1024 pixel. And Glenn, that is it,.........

I try change the header to the original bmp file,.... but i found replace it easier than other,.....

I am not sure what you are saying to do. Could you explain it better?

It sounds like, while the Phoenix files are encrypted, they don't need to be. So he just resized/reset resolution of a file he did for XTR.

COOL.

I think its a bit harder than that, the files are encrypted so they protect the rights of the artist/manufacturer etc. you cannot open an encrypted file let alone resize it you first need make the file readable in a paint package before you do anything.

Not all is lost though there is an small application that is used on the Aerofly simulator BMP image files (note these have a different file extension *.tmt not bmp) these are also encrypted like Phoenix files but a clever chap called Rainer Stein made a small program called tmt2bmp.exe to convert the bmp file so you can open it. Note This will only probuce a readable bmp file but not usable the results produce a sort of semi scrambled image but at least you can now see where the part placements are so you can now reskin it.

Note Phoenix doesnt need an emcrypted file to work any BMP will do you just need to know where the parts are placed on the image.

I'm at work now so have not tried it but I'm guessing that's what Devin has done I think the file would have to be renamed with a tmt file extension first to decrypt it. I am at work at the moment so I cannot try it from here without getting my P45

If you wanna give it a go yourself you can download the tmt2bmp.exe application from RC-Sim.de you will find it in the tools section of AFPD Pro. It is an excellent German based site for Sims but has an English section. Note you will have to register first to be able to download anything.

I will try it out tonight when I get home and write up a tutorial if I can suss it but at looking at the file size its a 24bit 1024x1024 bmp which equaltes to a 3mb BMP file.

Cheers
Glenn

I just tried tmt2bmp.exe, and it doesn't work on Phoenix bmp files... And yes, I did change the extension of the bmp file to tmt before trying the program..

Mmm thats odd I assused thats how Devin did it. I'm still at work so cant try myself.

Gregwee Have you tried the different output settings ? 16bit 24bit 32bit etc.? from what I remember it was a very "hit and miss" method

I've just PM'd Devin to find his secret I'll let you know.

Cheers

Hi, all. Sorry for may bad english here,.............

Glen. Nop. I dont use tmt2bmp files, just using a regular hex editor at first to get some info about the material placement, and using photoshop with some source of image from XTR bmp, G3 tga, etc.

And about knowing 1024x1024 in 24b equals 3mb bmp files is just regular from my experience in graphics work.

Attach two files, one is original ecrypted bmp file and other is bmp file with bmp header changed. The bmp header have some information about material placement, (see my jpg converted from bmp)

If you want to see difference between that two bmp files, just use regular hex editor, i hope you understand what difference of that two file header is,.......

Regards.

After that, next step, is dig the hex editor again,.... and here we go,....

The Header of file changed again, with edit in Footer file too. (Structure of file being recalculate to get 1024x1024 pixel). Compare it again in hex editor,..............

Its easy now, use photoshop from here.

Cheers.

No, I never said that he got around the encryption (of course it might not READ that way ). Only that he figured out how to build a NEW file that would work.

My comment was that the encryption was not NEEDED for the file to work in Phoenix.

And his later posts point that out.

Earlier he mentioned that he started with a file he had done for XTR, then changed the parameters to match the Phoenix requirements.

Hi Terry.

Yap, regular bmp works,...... with miss and hit, or trial and error method to get te composition of part being there,......

Encoding to original bmp (changed header and footer of file) makes it easier,....

Cheers.

Thanks Devin all is clear now. Basically you are replacing the header and footer of the encoded BMP file with a normal header and footer from an ordinary BMP and join them together. How do you know what address where to cut the file ? I have used hex editors before in the past but never on a BMP image. The rest is a piece of cake.

Cheers

Talking Hahh this is tooo easy

Hey Devin

Nice I've just managed to work it out myself. Many thanks for that.

OK to save Dev trying to describe how to do it I'll try to help him out here.

This is some info for any other Freaks who want to try this. The bitmap file needs to be 3145784 bytes long that conforms to a 1024 x 1024 24Bit BMP file. The Header at the begining of the file has been played around with by Phoenix to make it unreadable to paint packages all you have to do is replace this header with one form an untampered file of the same dimensions and BIT depth then and hey presto the file is readable. Note the header is only the first 54 bytes of the file the rest of the file is the image itself.

Basically open up a copy of the Phoenix BMP file in your Hex Editor and replace the first 54bytes from another untampered bitmap. Just use copy and paste. then save the file. I have never tried to do this before but I managed to get it first time. Totally Perfect with no flaws. There is a couple of bytes at the end of the file that are different so I changed those to make sure. I hope the above is clear

If you want to try it download Hex Editor by HDD Software its free. I would only perform this on a copy of the BMP as you could screw up the original file if you get it wrong.

Now lets get to work on these and have a new fleet of freshly painted birds for Phoenix.

You want Proof ?? find attached what the Nitro file looks like un encrypted with BMP zipped up fro all you paint Freaks to canibalize

Oh And a bit of Nurd info if you guys wanna read up on how a BMP is read:-

Cheers

OK, well I got it to open up in MS Paint by changing the header info. Changed the canopy color in MS Paint. Loaded up Phoenix and none of the textures were in the right place. Then I put the header back to the orginal and still the textures are in the wrong place. I can not get it to work in Phoenix after editing the bmp.
