Default Nano QX dx6i "Heli" Profile

Blade Nano QX Heli Profile
Thanks goes out to Pfloyd, whose post about dx6i settings for mcx2 was used to template this, and for his help in testing. Thanks also to rkweekly, who inspired me to make these notes with his initial work on finding the differences in settings.

Please keep in mind I'm not an expert, just a guy who saw an opportunity to share what I learned here for the benefit of others. Contribute and/or correct if you find something that doesn't work right, or something that works BETTER!

These settings are now as final as I can get them, they have been updated 6/28/13 following testing. You do not need to read the whole conversation below to get the proper settings, they are in this post.

Once you've become accustomed to the feel of these settings, you can "amp it up" by increasing your travel adjust rates above 100%, as stated in the user's manual. This will result in faster flips, quicker piros, and some other stuff I'm not sure of because I haven't done it yet

Anything I left out of this list didn't need to be changed from default (on a blank profile) to make it fly.

With these settings, toggling the F.Mode / IU switch is what changes between "stability" and "agility" mode, rather than the Gyro/Flap switch per the instructions in the manual. The reason for this is that receiver channel 6 on an airplane is used for Flaps on wings, and on a heli, it's used for Pitch on the main blades.

While flying, the F Mode switch should remain in the "0" position, and flipping to "1" and back to "0" will perform the mode change.

All controls appear to work fine after the updates that have been made.

Thanks to those who joined the discussion to fine-tune things. That discussion can be viewed at this link. I know there are some little quirks to making this work with "heli" settings, so if anyone finds a good way to improve this information, please let me know, and I'll update it

For those who have already read this in the mQx forum, sorry for the double posting, but my OCD won't permit me to keep from putting this information here. I feel much better now.

Thank you, and your OCD (does it bother you that the letters are out of order? shouldn't it be CDO?) for posting these settings here! I'll be trying this out tonight...

Great settings... but I bumped my AILE,ELEV,RUDD travel up to 125%.

Snappy.

Figures... Hot shot. I bet you've gotta bump it up to make it feel right after your experience with that beastly awesome mQxBL you and Dylwad made into a reality

Cheers. Yeah, the BL MQX is a rather choice conversion, I consider myself lucky to have it.

I must point out that Dylan (Dylwad) was the technician behind the build, and as such, deserves 90% of the credit. My bird's design was based on his earlier (successful) conversion, with some changes and tweaks that I wanted. Seriously, Astroid kicks ass.

I don't wanna take anything away from Dylan, certainly. I do think the refinement you offered to the design was a thoughtful touch as well, as minor a tweak as you may consider it.

I thought you were very clear about the genius he poured over it once you sent everything in when I read your description of the concept and the build. Good stuff. I liked reading about that build

Getting good indoor performance in "agility mode" with AILE and ELEV D/R down to 50% in low rates (D/R switch pos. 0). Relatively easy to fly. Bump it up to 60% and it starts to get a tad "squirrely" for smaller rooms.

AILE, ELEV, RUDD travel is at 125%.

Allows for "point and shoot" flying (ie; the bird goes in the direction you last commanded it to).

Safe mode serves it's purpose (an excellent tool to learn to fly with), but it inhibits any really spirited flying, and IMO may overwork the motors trying to correct (moderate) the commands the pilot inputs.

IMO, to be fair, at 100% D/R, safe mode is "OK".

Question-

On my t-six, when I use your profile, the F-Mode and TH Hold do the same thing...I can use either switch to toggle between stability and agility.

Pfloyd,

A question to help diagnose - When this happens, and TH changes your flight mode, what position is your F Mode switch in?

The F Mode switch should rest in the "0" position, then always return to that position. I can duplicate the symptom you describe on my transmitter by letting F Mode rest in the "1" position. I also generated symptoms like that when I forgot to reverse my Pitch channel while trying to sort this all out. If both of those things are in their proper order, we may need to dig a little deeper

I was worried about that side effect at first, then found it not to be a problem on my dx6i as long as F Mode stays at "0" while flying.

I was also confused what should be the "proper" direction for the toggle to work. I settled that I liked 0-1-0 better, then realized just now that it's not a part of my documentation above at all. Do you think I should add that?

Just wondering if you could you assign the gear channel to a switch, then use the mixing function to mix it into the pitch channel. That way you could use F-Mode and TH normally and keep the pitch curves all flat zero.

Just the post I was looking for! I kept hitting throttle hold in a crash and it did nothing. Now it works I could have worked this out myself but couldn't be bothered but now it's done for me

Default Clarification - Travel Adjust settings

I'm sorry - new to this and don't understand the travel adjust settings above. On the DX6i, the Travel Adjust settings includes arrows that go up/down/left/right, and I am not sure what the settings you posted mean.

Sorry, but I'm a newbie!
Thanks, Bill

I would like to know what the Travel Adjust means also.

Also, when I use these settings and switch into "agility mode" (the LED turns red), I lose control over the right stick. I can use the throttle and rotate, but I can't do anything else.
