Damn. That thought hadn't occurred to me either. I do love having a case for it.

Now you guys need to get to work designing a telescoping tail boom.

I know you are not serious...but

I think thats perhaps easier as you think..if we would think about it..

But for me I never would do a compromise on my heli. Then either a larger case or no case.

Have fun!

I like it.

I would recommend to extend your boom support to at least half of the boom.
First, because your current position does not really support and second I think it will look better.
And you even have those expensive Lynx support that really is able to support.

Do you know how much bigger the lipos acutally can be with a Fusono EX?

Those are actually the Blade aluminum boom supports for a 300x. It looks like you run NO boom supports! Why are you giving me a hard time about my shorties?! LOL Seriously though, I think Im gonna put some longer ones on there.

As for batteries, I only run 2200 packs. I do have a few of the Turnigy blue packs that are physically larger and they fit with no issues. Btw, Canomod makes a 450 EX size also.

I just hovered a pack to feel out the new stretch. Basic hovering with some pitch pumps at 3 different head speeds. I can tell a difference in added stability, which surprised me. I can also feel the extra float. Can't wait to fly it for real.

Yes I have none because the stock ones are nothing but useless. You need at least some strong metal parts to get more stability. That is what lynx does. But they are just too expensive for me. But I though IF you would have them, then better use it right

Keep ur shorties! Length is not everything

I just thought it would be better to cup it towards the base and let the long part hang out, LOL.

BTW, I got an over current warning on my Edge 50 while I was hovering that pack today.

My three head speeds were 2700, 3000, and 3300.

Is that 3300 too much with the bigger blades?

My data logging says I hit 52.7 Amps.

I have now dropped my govs to 2500, 2800, and 3100. Lets see how that goes.

Its an Eflite H450, 3600kv. 136t main gear/ 13t pinion.

I thought that 53A triggering an alarm was odd olso, but that is what the Data Log says.

I really like the KDE "performance" boom supports. They're a little pricey, but these suckers are beefy. That is, they're thicker and longer than the stock supports and have set screws as a backup to the epoxy.

Amain has them as a standalone set without the boom bracket. Most other places always sell the set only.

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...pport-Assembly

Here they are on my 450.

Thanks Nelson, you know I like the beefy look. Those would go well with my CF tail servo rod.

ETA: HOLY SNOT ROCKETS! THOSE ARE THIRTY BUCKS!

I warned ya they're pricey I've got no regrets though. They are very strong. Worst case you might break the carbon rod and it would be pretty easy to replace it. The ends are very high quality. Mine have survived several pretty nasty crashes.

Are they super heavy too? That was actually part of the readon I went to the 300 length. Still offers some support, but they are lighter and pulls a little weight forward to offset the longer tail weight.

Certainly they're heavier than the stock ones. I'm not sure by how much. I can weigh them later if you'd like.

The description says they're 6g each.

Nah, don't need to go to the work for me. Thanks for the offer though. I might just make these ones longer. I have some carbon rods laying around. I want to leave my 450 supports on the 300.

Maybe you should change your gearing. I have 140T/12T on 4s 2800kv.

And do you know that the over current protection should be off on a CC ESC in heli use!?
Because you have a lot of high peaks confusing that protection.
At least with the Castel Ice I know...

But bigger blades can draw a lot. Standart motors often are two weak or you need to change gearing,

Looking at the data log it was a very fast momentary spike that happened only once. I'm not convinced it is my gearing. I dropped the HS max to 3100 from 3300, I'll try that.

I'll check that over current protection is off as well. I'm not sure I actualy got into over current protection per se. I think it was just an alarm.

Ok, I checked my "current" settings.

The "current limit" is set to 70A, which means that it won't cut off due to current spikes until the 70A mark. I hit 53A, so that definitely wasn't it. I think it was just an alarm telling me that I went over 50A. I really don't think it as a big deal. You can actually set the cutoff as high as 80A, so I think momentary spikes in the low 50 range should be no big deal and I am not worried about it. I can't seem to find any place to change the Amperage at which that alarm triggers through. It would be nice to set that at about 60A for the alarm.
