Seems to be some confusion over the flight modes, ie a lot of people confused whether GPS hold is working in stability mode (it does), so I've made a quick video showing the three modes hopefully its useful.

Hey James, thanks for the excellent video!

May I ask a few real newbie questions that will only reveal how little I know (nothing actually) about the whole video set up on these things.

On your Tx it looks like you have either your smartphone or some other kind of screen. In your video, it looks like it is displaying what the camera filming this video is seeing "live". Is this the same camera that you would mount on the 350? If so, would it display "live" what the camera on the Quad is seeing? And if so, is that an app or program?

These quads are interesting. I bought a Nano QX recently for indoors, and it's more fun than I thought it would be! I'm thinking of getting a GoPro kit for kayaking, and can see additional use for this camera if I had something like the 350 QX to mount it on. I can see some practical uses as well, like inspecting the roof on the house from a top-down view (my house it 2 - 3 stories high, so I can't do that. So being able to see 'live" what the camera sees would allow some "live" driving too. Is this possible?

I have a 130x, 450x, and a nano cpx, so I can fly to some degree. I'm planning to sell off the 450x because I really don't have a convenient place to fly it. The 350 QX looks like a nice possible replacement.

For me the 350XQ is a completely different type of flying. I like learning to fly complex maneuvers on CP helis, and I get a rush doing that when it goes right, but for this bird, I love hanging a camera from it and shooting pictures. Eventually I would like to try some fpv and video too but I won't get into that until I can get a decent gimbal on it too.

As for flying by the phone view, you can do it like you mention to look at the roof and stuff, but realize that there is lag involved. I have the GoPro Hero3 Black, it has the wifi and iPhone app but the lag between what the camera sees, and what the phone sees is about 3 seconds. If I flew based on watching the video on my phone, I'd crash for sure!

The gopro hero3 comes with wifi so you can use any smartphone (android or ios) to control the camera, change settings and preview/watch recordings, it has about a 2-3 second delay, so its no good for FPV, I use it just for framing so I could glance down and check I had the quad in shot, as I had the gopro attached to my cap.

I just stuck my smartphone (Galaxy S2) on a tripod clip (rubber band was just because the spring pinged off just as I was going outside, I've fixed it now) and a gorillapod type tripod to hold the phone on the back of my DX8. You can get the whole lot on ebay for a few dollars (search smartphone tripod, and octopus tripod).

If you have a smartphone and buy a gopro hero3 you can do the same just with any kind of mounting for your phone, you could do this with rubber bands if you don't have anything else handy, just tilt DX8 towards you to see the phone.

Sorry for double posting, but someone asked me for a DX8 bind video, so I've shot a complete DX8 setup and bind, so from out of the box to flying, hope this is useful, please let me know if anything else would be helpful (I think I still have a DX6i in the loft, so will get that down and shoot a setup/bind video for that too, as I know the arming is causing some issues).

The only video I've tried had too much jellow effect. I'll try balancing the blades tonight. I have had a lot of fun shooting still though! It's great for that.
