Default BATTERIES!!! Let's get a which battery thread going

Hello X3 owners, and tire kickers!

I think we need a sticky about batteries... What works? Where to get um? What size, and weight?

I am running the 6S Nano Tech 1300s 35C, and the Gens Ace 1200 40C, these are good fit get 3:30 at 3150, and are between 205g-240g...

I found a really good 3S pack on HK USA warehouse it's a 3S 2450mAH 35C Zippy compact...

Optipower 1400Mah 6S 50C ~275g from Experience RC. They just touch the frames but slide in easily. I'm pretty certain I'll need to tape them to the tray to get it all to fit, I doubt there's room for Velcro. I'm still in the build process so no performance info yet.

Power system is a HS2221-1630 with 13T pinion and castle edge 50 lite.

I will be keen to hear how those work for you, and hope they are still in stock once you report back...

I use a very thin Velcro I found at Lowes... it has been a life saver with the Gaui X3...

Pulse 6S 1350s fit, but bear in mind that they have 10 gauge wires, so you would need a connector to match, or trim the wire to fit a smaller connector.

So we have gens1100, pulse1350, opti1400, maybe one or more.
I thought there were more choices than i found on google.

And whats the deal with the price of these packs?
It always scales per mah and cell, like 2 3s 1100 packs are 20$
But a 6s pack is 40$?

I have the Gens 2200 standing in the frame, on a piece of rubber and velcroed around the frame. Simple and good.

Since I use these Lipo's in my other heli also I don't want to mount them on battery plates. And if I have to use only one plate it would be troublesome. So... I have found out this solution instead! The lipo can't get anywhere, the third bearing is only mm away and sideway it's only a few mm also. But... the bicycle tube piece holds it in place good, and rubbered velcro also

Default 2x2200 loaf

anyone thought of this crazy (?) idea.

1) Use a servo boom-mount and move the tailservo to the boom. Shorter tail linkage also.

this makes room for BIG lipo...

2) Use 2x 3S 2200mAh Lipo in serial (like 2x6S on a 700). That would actually fit if they lay down, a few mm space under the third bearing.

The Pulse 1350s are a tight fit, and because of that I can't strap them onto the battery sliding tray. What I did on my first flights was just Velcro the top of the battery to the try, which worked, but obviously won't be as secure. Anyone else running Pulse batteries and found the fit to be tight?

I need to find Velcro similar to what Trexwilly found, or place something to fill the gap under the battery.

I really like this idea. whats the boom diameter? Wonder if my G5 spares have a few in there (ok, i dont wonder, i know they do )

Even a bit longer would enable 2 3S packs in lots of configurations. 10 minute flights???

The third bearing holder is in the way, in front of that we have 34mm top to bottom. Under the third bearing mount its alot less.

I am modding for packs that are out now . they are fatter not longer so i need to make the 34mm wider or taller. The frames limit the width. So the upper and lower tray can be modded. I am going to 3d print some of my own. Like a upper tray that is taller, relocate the esc , and i should get at least 50mm

I was able to fit an 1100 mAh Hyperion 6S pack in mine with the tray It doesn't balance all that well but it fits and flies fine.

The boom diameter is 15mm.

Inside the frame w/o tail servo and under the bearing it is this space:

34mm Wide
32mm High
+200mm Deep

See attached photo.

(for a lipo in standard place front of the bearing you have this space: W34 / H41 but 38 w battery plate and about D150)

Now that i have my kit and i measured again. i think the stock max battery size is wrong. Manual says 34x34x110. I measured 34widex40tallx 110long. Thats zero mods, stock with sliding tray in.

I found an old photo of two 3S 2200 in the frame w/o tail servo (imagine you put the servo on the boom instead and have these packs there

Willy, you have a good selection of Lipos, so I should ask you. How did the Optipower 1400 50C work out, for size and weight (CG)?

I've just found some 1500mah 6S 25C (255g), that they say are 100 x 34 x 32. Thought they might be ok for some soft 3d with a reasonable flight time, if they fit.

Edit: Oops, sorry, you were just making a list of possible batteries.

I have been running Gens Ace 6s 1600mah 40c.... its a snug fit... Only one must dremil a few mm's off the front of the frame in order to keep wear and tear away from the Neg. wire.

Getting 4:30 min light 3D on scorpion HK2221 2010kv motor.

Take note in first pic and you can see small area that must be cut away if considering 1600mah.
