It won't fry it, but not good for the lifespan of the servo imo. Lots of people run servo higher than the rated voltage and frequency, I'm not that brave or lucky.

By the looks of it in your video that thing is really happy with the less weight. I'm surprised the plastic servo gears held up in your crash. But the 250 blades are quite small.
you have a 5v option on the align blue/yellow as well, no need for a diode if you are ok running 5v.

Thanks guys. I can't adjust the voltage on Talon15, so I'll just keep it at 5.5V and hope the 76t won't fry. Don't want to spend time and money to add more weight to my heli

go to radioshack, look in the diode bin, and get a 3a barrel diode, they come 2 to a package for about $3. Solder it inline with the red servo wire, painted ring towards the servo. That will give you a .7ish voltage drop to the tail servo and keep it right in line with it's operating specs.

I already have a few of these around the house:
http://www.digchip.com/datasheets/pa...139/HER105.php

They are 1A diodes. Would it work fine?

Thanks

Yeah, I'd think 1a would be ok for just one servo, but I only have first hand experience with the 3a barrel diode, these are very commonly installed on the ds76t by the 450x guys, that esc can be switched to 6v, people install the diode to drop the voltage to the tail servo. That still puts it at around 5.2 or 5.3, so apparently people are running the ds76t above the recommended voltage with success. For me running it at 4.8 gives me a little more peace of mind. I know there is a user on here (can't remember his name) that has been running the 76t right off of his talon at 5.5v.

Hi BMC76,

I'm trying to get my servo horns set up for my 76's on the cyclic, but I'm finding that the long balls on the servo horns (on the two front servos) are hitting the gear casing when using 11mm from center.

Did you swap the long balls on the servo horns with the short balls on the lower swashplate to get clearance? It's hard to tell in the pic on the first page.

If so, does that not effect the swashplate geometry, using the longer balls on the swashplate? I wish I had some spare long and short balls to try, but I don't.

Thanks!!

MB

I just left them as is and angled out the loops, contacts the case a bit but doesn't cause any problems that I noticed, no wear that I see yet. I know some people put short balls on the horns and the long balls on the swash if it bothers you.

O.K. thanks I don't like the idea of the links rubbing the casing, so I'll try swapping the balls over and see how the geometry looks.

Cheers!!

Upped the collective to +-13, feels like the gov holds head speed better.

very nice. 309 grams? Is the one piece plastic landing gear heavier than the SE landing gear?

the one piece plus skids are only a tenth of a gram lighter than the standard set according to my scale.

Thank you bmc, my 250 weight is very heavy, I'm looking for ways to cut down the weight.

I know the feeling bud. Mine was a tank before the diet. It's good now though, one of my favorite helis.

I ordered a DS09GMD on Friday, should get delivered Monday. I'll see how it does compared to ds76t. I really like Hyerion lipos so I'm optimistic.

Just wondering how the DS09GMD worked out for you. I'm using the DS76t, but not sure if I trust it.

I just finished rebuilding one of my 250's. It started out as a CopterX kit but as I was chasing down vibes, used a lot of Align parts. It would seem the CopterX frame is several grams lighter than the Align as my AUW is 289.50 grams. My other 250 is a DFC plus with a nearly identical setup except for tt tail, and weighs 298 grams. It's been crazy windy here so no test flight yet.

Has anyone had the D76 servos fail in mid air without notice?

I have not, but I have read about it happening on the 300x/ 450x forum. It's not a common complaint but it does seem to happen at times. I'm going to keep on running them on cyclic until they fail. Most common complaint is the gears strip easily in a crash, but I had a nasty crash on the 250 and the gears survived. The gears are cheap too so that doesn't concern me.
