Thanks!

Here is a flight with some more moves I've been working on. A friend of mine is trying to talk me into slowing it down a bit.

In the first video it's an xnova 1580kv with a 12t pinion. I keep wearing the bearings out on this motor.

In the video below it's the align motor 1800kv. I actually prefer this motor. I also have the kde on the bench.

I always run my x3 at 2850rpm on 360s. I can't tell excaly what battery I had in it in the first video. The second video is a Optipower 1450 6s. I have many mismatch batteries, most of them 2-3 years old. At 2850 you don't need great batteries.

x3 gaui 8.22.17 (4 min 48 sec)

Good flying you seemed very much in control the whole time.

+1. Excellent flying on that last video bgmyr. Thanks for the info... I am also using a 1580KV motor (Scorpion) but with a 13T pinion. I fly my X3 (based on my HS calculation) at either 2650 (IU1) or 3000 (IU2) when on 6S lipos. At 2650 I still sometimes lose the tail especially when it is windy despite the Lynx speed up pulley. At 3000 I only get around 3 minute flight times (lipos are 1400mah). I will try 2850 on IU2... This could be the happy compromise.

Have you tried the mod where you extend the flat spot on your tail shaft to move the hub out 1mm?
I know I was able to get better hold doing this mod, I learned it on the trex 450 pro threads... think thry called it the KDE modd?

I really think with the 380 belt stretch you could safely run those over sized tail-blades from the 470 align with 360mm mains. The tails are 74mm. At that point you probably can run as low as you want on the headspeed.

Anyone tried this?

Haven't tried that mod yet but might do if the bump in HS from 2650 to 2850 does not further minimize the tail issue. I did notice an improvement already with the speed up pulley.

I am running Zeal 62mm but have a pair of 68mms. The 68mms appear to be pushing it when it comes to ground clearance with the 360mm belted tail which is why I haven't tried those yet.

I used to have tail issue too on windy days. After I used thread lock on the sleeve and bolt on tail pitch lever the problem seems to be gone on my X3 380 and X3 420. It did away with some play in the whole assembly. I may next try to loctite the sleeve to bearing and bolt to get rid of more play.

I`m using 68mm Zeal tail blades X3 420 and 62mm Halo tail blades on the X3 380 with Halo 385 blades.
