Thanks volcomsnows2k! I am pretty sure you will love the 6HVU. I might convert my 550U to a 6HVU in the distant future but I like it the way it is right now.

A few pics from this morning... I installed Chronos CF struts on the 550U and this paid off this morning after a botched mini-auto (it was very windy) that caused the 550U to bounce twice before landing on its side. No damage whatsoever though except for scratches on the tip of the main blades.

Wow. I wanted to do something similar. I competed in the rchn speed cup with my 6hvu and took 1st in class 2 but that was just with a 4225 on 12s. I ran 2800 headspeed. What do you plan on running? I bet that power system would push it to 3200 or so. Not sure what the heli can handle. Definitely put some tiny tail blades on it so the tail doesn't explode. You could also put the 7hvu rear pulley on it to slow the tail ratio down.

I see your results in rchn speed cup.
This motor is insane for this model.
Lipos turnigy compact do the job but these are weakness of the setup... The only alternative is Thunder power 3300 7s, but not the same price!
I run 2800 too @80% gov store with 12T pinion.
I can reach 3300 @ 100% but I don't what an explosion... 2800 is a good enough for training and for these blades. I think limits are the blades not mechanic.

Currently I have to cure a cyclic shaking problem on elevators when I start curves at the end of the run.
I'm thinking about reducing Integral gain on elevators on the brain... P gain reducing doesn't work.

Yeah even though I took 1st, my speed wasn't really all that impressive. Somewhere around 110mph I think. Fast for a 600 but there was definitely room to go faster. I decided to compete the day of the competition so all I really did was swap a pinion and tape up the canopy a bit. Also the only decentvspeed blades i found at the funfly were rail 606's, so 626's will definitely make a big difference. I was also using really tired packs. Even though I was running 2800, I'm sure it was sagging down to at least 2400. The only part that would really worry me at higher headspeeds (above 3000) would be the main pitch links popping off. Make sure you have the updated beefier link ends and only pop them on once. As soon as you pop them back off, they don't feel quite as tight. When you set tracking, just use a really good digital guage and hold the link against the ball without popping it on to check the angle. As for the spindle bolts holding up, I'm sure it's not an issue since the 7hv uses the same design and it can handle 700 blades overspeeding to 2800 or so.

Also, just so you know, justin runs the r5 with rail 626's as high as 3400 or so I think so I wouldn't worry about the blades. I really think the only 2 weak points are gonna be pitch links and the tail assembly. Just use really small tail blades. You don't need alot for speed. I think I ran 76mm or something. Also testing the limit of the pitch links should be easy. Just remove the blades and spool up to your max speed and work the collective and cyclic. Of course stand back while you do it.

In fact I don't use my 6hv to make pure speed, It's more for "dynamic speed flying" with a lot of curves and loops at high speed. So I don't search super high rotor speed. 2800-2900 is already very impressive for this use. This needs a lot of gov room and not too little tail blades to avoid tail stall with fast and hard motor loading, especially in the bottom of hard loops.

A video of "dynamic speed flying" with my oxy 8s (I would like to do this style of flying in 600 size...), sorry for a little out of subject...

Oxy 3+ cube stretched triblabe 8s @4350 rpm (3 min 57 sec)

Red and blue canopy! Funny how different colors and lines makes the canopy look like it changed to a more streamlined shape but in reality it hasn't. Same shape as the lime green canopy.

Agreed! Gotta love those KBDD blades with the 550 canopy.

Wanted to show off my 6HV U

3869g flying weight, of which
- 157g canopy (why so big?)
- 1043g battery (Nanotech 3300 35C 6s 2)

The battery packs are placed about 1cm forward from the back of the tray, so I may try bigger next time (will Turnigy 3600 30C work?).

Futaba BLS272 servos, Xpert 2202T on tail
HobbyWing 100HV and 10A UBEC
Savox BSM 4760 530kV
R2 50F cap buffer
UniSens-E
Spirit Pro

Really pleased with the electronics. The ESC is probably slightly over-rated for my current flight style, but I'd prefer that to under-rated. The Savox motor is performing excellently; plenty enough power so far and quite a bit lighter than the Scorpion 4035.

You may notice how I've installed the reciever antennas on the rear strut. Seems good. According to the logs the telemetry signal is a little weak and drops out sometimes but the control reception is excellent.

Only negatives:
- I've had a couple of issues programming the UniSens-E and MZ-24, but got it working eventually
- The canopy is humongous... I may try the 550 version at some point, even with a 12s battery
- My bird's nest of wires under the battery tray (I may remove the anti-spark since the XT90-S anti-spark is working fine)
