E550 FBL
Hey guys... Not sure what to do, but I'm having some blade tracking problems.
:-) Total dumb-thumb moment. Good thing replacement parts are cheap! All in all it's about a hundred dollar bill to Tower Hobbies, and I'll be back in good shape by the weekend. |

I just ordered some goodies for mine, including a 6mm bore pinion so I can install an Align 600MX motor in it for a bit more poke. I see an iKon on there. Mine's sporting a VBar now.

I just couldn't tune the 5.2 to my liking, so I went back to what I know.
Yep, couldn't sell it so I'm keeping it.

Sorry about the crash.....at least you could have got it on video....lol
My one & only annual fun-fly is coming up, if my E550 comes back intact, then either I'm not flying hard enough, or the sim is really paying off! I think I will have to attempt my first piro flip, & maybe some backwards circuits..... I'll have the gopro rolling

Does anyone happen to have a spare feathering shaft for this heli (PV1441) in their crash stockpiles that they would be willing to sell me? It turns out they are out of stock at Tower Hobbies (and other US merchants) and it doesn't look like they will have any more until the end of the month. I hate to be down that long!
BTW...just a heads up. If you happen to order parts from the Tower Hobbies website, make sure you search for the part number you need from the E550FBL manual. I originally ordered my main shaft and feathering shaft from the "Replacement Parts" part of the website for the E550FBL, and it seems that some of the cross-linking of parts is a little off. Most of the other parts seem to be fine, but the head parts aren't. Not knowing anything about the Raptor line-up, I ended up ordering a feathering shaft and main shaft for the R30/R50. I now see that the parts I need are for the X50. So if you are new to this brand, save yourself some trouble, and just search for the parts you need rather than using the matrix until they get it fixed. I have let them know...and they are fixing it now...in the meantime, however, just pay attention to the part numbers. Anyway....now I need a feathering shaft, since the one I have is not the right one. Please let me know if you can help. You can PM me. Here are some head parts and part numbers in case anyone else needs parts (screenshots from the manual). Last edited by cipioh; 06-03-2014 at 09:39 AM.. |

You may be able to use one from another manufacturer or use a slightly longer one trimmed down or shimmed up. I replaced the FS on my E550s with an unknown one I had lying about. It was a tad longer but the same diameter and just needed a .5mm washer either side up against the damper rubbers. Post the length and diameter and I'm sure someone will come back with an alternative.

Hi everyone, I'm setting up my new E550, and I was wondering what is the overall best Spektrum receiver to use? I don't need anything with a GPS right? I have a small full range 6 channel Spektrum receiver, would that work well? I've never set up a Thunder Tiger heli before so much of this is new to me.
Thank you! |

No gps required, and any full range 6ch (or greater) receiver will be fine. You can also use two spektrum satellites and connect them direct to the GT5.2. |

OD: 7mm ID: 4mm Length: 89.55mm It's completely straight with no steps. (There does seem to be another X50 version with steps...but that's not the right part number.) I still haven't found a replacement. |

Thank you so much. This heli is all new to me. I know the servo arms need to be attached to the servos with all the settings at neutral, but is there a specific way to ensure that the servo arms are perfectly perpendicular to the servos? Sorry for the dumb questions, I've never set up a heli to this degree before.

Well day 2 of my week long fun fly and the E550 is out of the game I was expecting this at some point as it's my test/practice machine, my own doing is fine, but my right ail servo failed in flight I managed to control it enough to get it down without much damage, main blades, landing skid support, And likely a feathering shaft. Guess this means I can't really trust the other servos....
Got it on video, will post next week when I'm home.
