SamIAm -sounds good.

If the 27 tooth spur gear was made from aluminum and hard anodized, the same way it was done on the EX, it would never strip, so the only strippable gears would be the -18 TT and the main gear.

This would make for a very robust gear train

I'm also a Whiplash owner in the UK.

I have upgraded mine to the EX helical main gear to get rid of the problem with the 15 gear but when checking everything out, it looks like I have a crack in one of the 18's. If someone could produce any of the 17's and 18's I'd happily buy a stock pile of them. Looks like I'm grounded until I can find some

Thanks!

We'll see if I can get it. I'd still be in if someone were to do a production run of these though

Heliproz had a batch of the 131-17 gears in by the looks of it.
Don't know how long they have been on there though.

Managed to order a couple and now they are back out of stock again.

Here are some pictures of how to make the -18 gears without a cnc mill. I turned the blank on a lathe to 15 mm and then plunge cut the gear on a small rotary table with a 1/4" end mill. I should probably use a 5mm end mill as 1/4" is a little too big, but the end result is encouraging.

What did you pay for the blank?

I have some spars except for 131-17. I am one tail strike from grounded. Has anyone come up with a replacement for the 17?
