Default Shims with Lynx dampers?

Hey guys, anyone using the new Lynx dampers, how many if any shims did you use with 'em. Thanks.

Stiffer and geared more towards 3d. I have used them in other models with good results.

well i got mine yesterday, unfortunately i am out of shims! I had 2 for each side of the head, one thin and one medium thickness and it still isnt enough. I am off to the LHS and hardware store to find a similar shim. Was hoping to try them out today with my new TP 2250mah packs but no joy. Hopefully tomorrow.

Without shims there is about a 16th inch gap. Almost enough for the 2 shims but still a little play.

I didn't know there are different thickness shims. I have a bunch of the 0.1mm ones.

Default Shims with Lynx dampers?

I ran 3 shims on each side with no play. Didn't try 2 though. Not really qualified to say how it flew, as it was gusting 20mph for the test flight, and I'm hardly a test pilot.

The number of the thin shims that go into the head before the dampers is totally dependent on machining tolerances. The lynk site says to use shims as needed before the damper, just as you would with the msh stock dampers.
With the low fbl head I always start with 2 on each side. Then I pre-assemble without locktite, the main grips on the spindle and if I find no side to side play in the spindle and no excessive binding in the main grips when rotated then you are good to reassemble with locktite. I have found that using an amount of shims that cause just a bit of notchiness in the grips when rotated by hand is perfect as it will all break in, in a short time. You will also find that if you pullout hard on the grips while rotating them that the notchiness goes away!
Do not confuse the super thin shims with the spindle spacers which must be the thick ones with the long fbl spindle.
If you have the low fbl head, it came with a bunch of these shims and there should have been extras in the kit! I know the plans only show 1 per side but the plans should be highlighted with a note to say use as many as needed to remove lateral play.
Do not use so many that your grips bind excessively is all I can say.

Flew mine today after I picked up a set for the mini and p500. For some reason the tracking on the mini went to shit and I was unable to get the blades tracking correctly on the mini before it got dark. They flew excellent on the p500 and tracking was spot on. Not sure what's up with the minis tracking I will have to take the head apart and see if a o ring tore on instal or something.

Well got the tracking adjusted and flew great. Still not sure why the tracking was off so much after installing these dampers but flys great now. Much stiffer than stock.

I bet your delta changed slightly and if you did not do a 0 pitch at mid stick adjustment then yes your tracking would be off. I totally trust my digi pitch gauges and never have tracking issues after a damper install, but I re-do 0 midstick after any head change for maintenance at the minimum..

Thanks for reporting. I'll start with two shims then when I get the dampers.

I've got about 6 flights on my mini with the Lynx V2 dampeners. The ones with the single O-Ring. Man it really helps with the cyclic. And the heli seems to hold position better in Tick Tocks and rainbows. Cyclic is really fast now. I didn't use any shims and really no play in the main grips. With the Stock dampeners the thrust bearings always felt a little notchy when I turned the grips unless I pulled on them which is normal.
With these the grips are smooth turning with no outward pulling.

And the coolest thing is you just don't get one set, you get two sets!
