Use loctite on the motor mounts and the prop nuts.

do not apply positive voltage to ground.

do not apply 12v where 5v goes

do not do any tests or calibrations with the props installed!!! (this goes for updating firmware on your DJI too!)

Take your time and double check everything. A couple of extra hours on the bench now, beats a lot of hours putting it back together later.

I don't own one. I was just giving you a general builder's perspective.
Since it hasn't been out for very long might want to check the DJI videos and YouTube.

YouTube search for DJI S1000

I built 6 of them for NAB. Follow the manual. The build is actually very easy. Are you mounting a gimbal? What Tx are you using?

Default DJI s1000 A2 Futaba 14sg build

I'm relatively new to the RC world and more photographer trying to learn to fly. I am taking a leap of faith and stepping up my services. Adding the s1000 for aerial photography with my Canon 5D Mark III. Besides going to a UAV training, are there any recent groups that have a step by step build and Futaba configuration for dummies out there? I put the s1000 together, A2 is connected, now I need to configure using A2 assistant with the Futaba. I'm definitely taking blades off until ready for Maiden... Any links or sites with more detail than DJI would be great.

I have an S800EVO with the 14SG for pilot and a DX8/AR8000 for the camera (Sony Nex7) operator. Are you planning on one person doing everything or splitting the duties? Personally, I've found it much more productive to have two people. Sorry, I don't have anything particular regarding the A2 as I'm using the WKM. Besides the general advice you've gotten already, I'd really, strongly emphasize taking your time and giving this thing the proper respect. When you hear it fire up the first time, you'll know what I mean. I don't even fly mine for fun, just for real estate footage I (ahem) donate to friends.
