Default What did you do with your 700x today?

Man, it's been too quiet in here, time to start a chatter thread...

My 700x has been taking very good care of me. Been super reliable and a pleasure to fly. Put 2 flights on it sunday morning, off the next 3 days and batteries are on charge.

I thought the same thing. It's been to quiet in here. I guess every one has their 700X tuned and are out flying them. That's what i have been doing. After getting the small problems fixed that I had and getting it all tuned in I have just been flying. That what I did all last Sat. afternoon, just flew one battery after the other. Loving the Heli.

I missed last weekend. No fly for me

But I upgraded to 6280 servos on one 700x. Looking forward to seeing what difference it makes. The 6200s are already really good, probably the strongest item in the stock electronics. I don't expect to feel a difference but I've heard from several other guys on the team that you can.. so excited to see for myself

I've put 50-60 flights on mine this spring and have the fbl controller tuned to perfection, I'm doing a demo for the Notre Dame Dept .of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering class this weekend, I'm guessing I'll drive it in. It has been rock solid so far and it has a low rebuild cost, so far no downside! happy flying guys!

Mine is down for repair...stripped out two of the cyclic servos; ate a yoga mat. Long story and no I wasn't flying off of it.

Did not do any thing with my 700X today. The castle 120 ESC took a dump.

Yup. Lost orientation and it didn't take it well. Both frames went, skids, bottom frame stiffeners, boom, torque tube, tail servo gears, 2x cyclic servo gears. All in all, probably a re-kit.

I hit TH fairly quickly and I didn't think it was THAT hard of a hit. Considering my options now. Have managed to find a UK stockist for the H6200 gear sets, but NOWHERE in the UK seems to have the gear sets for the H6210 tail servo.

I'm fairly philosophical about it as I originally bought it for an absolute bargain. Bit torn now - I actually really like the 700x, but parts availability has me worried. I have a mate who runs an RC heli business and he's going to see what deal he can do me on the basic kit ..

Sorry to hear about the damage.

At least when my Speed control went I got her down safely.

Ok. Good news is the damage isn't as bad as it first looked ... It's not a re-kit. One side frame should be OK with some CA glue and perhaps some reinforcing with bits cuts from the truly broken side. The cracks are only around the front battery mount so not really structural. Other than that, it's the main gear, main shaft, boom and torque tube, skids, main blades obviously. Really nowhere near as bad as it first looked. The Rail blades that I was running were a second hand bargain and I still have the stock revolutions in the cupboard. Bit gutted about my Fusuno canopy though!

The biggest pain is the servo gears - with the exception of one cyclic - they all broke - including the tail servo gears! Can't seem to find the H6210 gear set in the UK for love nor money either

Overall though, it will be repaired, and fly again!

Sorry to hear that Tom, but glad it looks better than you first thought.

Today I did my first "false power failure..?" Not sure what the real name is... At some point in your flight (preferably close and inverted) you hit TH and let the heli fall. When the blades have slowed too much to save it with an auto, you bailout and then punch-out like there's no tomorrow. Pretty effective on the spectators

Sorry for your loss mate, but good on ya to rebuild it.

I have saved at least 6 rebuilds (all loss of orientation) over the last couple of years thanks to the bailout feature on my Helicommand hc3-sx (renamed Barvarian Demon bd3-sx) FBL units. The extra $200-250 these FBL units cost over other top performing FBL units quickly pays for itself imho.

Of course, you'll never know until you give one a go.

Cheers,
TomC

today i flew three batteries. on number three while doing basic flat pirouettes i lost the tail drive. tried to bring it in but ended in a minor crash. brought it home and went to work diagnosing what happened. found that i never actually got the tail case all the way on. been flying this way for 6 months. maybe 100 flights. suffice it to say the torque tube came out of the transmission gear. there was root cause. got it all back together now. lost a main blade and the tails. ordered new blades front and rear. will be here in a few days.

Brought mine to work today for show and tell. I took the blades off and spun it up for them.... hilarious!
