Default FINALLY!

Ok, I FINALLY get to post some information, horray!

Is there anyway to edit your data, remove section of time that are just blank of obvious SPIKES of BS information skewing the overall results? I tried opening the info in Access and it wanted nothing to do with it. I imported it into Excel and it's 'there' but not translated into easily usable fields.

Setup is a Gaui H-18-H SuperPig 1100kv motor, 15, 19, 50, 61 gearing, stock Gaui gears, HobbyCity Cheapy 550 Carbon Blades, Zippy 3300 Lipos, Castle 80 ESC and CC-BEC, DS821's and a Hyperion DS20GMD on the tail. Quite windy, 10-15 mph with gusts over 20 (I know, what are you THINKING?!?), 74 degrees, a few scattered clouds. For EagleTree I have the Gaui 1100 H-18H set at 12 poles and I was running at a 10.7 gear ratio for these flights:

Session one, data anomolies skewing the chart:

Session 2, note the 30 second 50% throttle run at about 1.5-2 minutes, just on the edge of starting to lift off and hover but not quite:

Session 3, I was just getting on it for fun!

Nice!

Hey..if you ever do set it up and graph it with the Z30, 1110KV, 75A Align, 14T, 42, 20 OWB, 61, 500mm RCP's at 100% flat, with 2200mAh's in series or 3000mAh 6S brick.. I'd love to see what the graph looks like doing hard 3D. That's my setup on the one hurri and I have no idea what the chart would look like.. but I am curious

Man, my hurris are flying awesome right now all dialed in s w e e t ! I'm trying hard to push my skill level without smashin' em up heheh. I've thought about getting a logger.. but the only way I would get one would be after I have enough Li-Po's.. and I can never have enough of them

So I see your head speed is around 1500 RPM. Is that accurate? Have you tached it? The Gaui HS calc says you should be over 2k RPM. What's your throttle curve? So many questions!

Man I hope your HS is wrong?? 1500?? It would fly like a pig at that low HS. Are you using the brushless sensor? I use the optical sensor & apart from some erratic jumps it does at least tell you what your "actual" HS is, not a calculated guess.

Looking at the amps you're pulling surely the HS is higher?

Cheers
Graeme

I just ran your numbers through my HS calculator & if your TC is down around 70-75% it is possible for your HS to be that low.

One thing that stands out for me is the Watts don't seem high enough for the Amps your pulling. Your hovering amps are above 35 yet Watts are down below 500??

My Z20 hovers at 18A using 380 - 400 watts. Did you have really low voltage for those flights?

BTW yes you can adjust the chart to exclude blank data & limit the range of the axis. go to the chart settings tab - lower left of screen & click the axis tab. You can set min & max for each axis.

Cheers
Graeme

OK here is a log from yesterday. I'm running the Z20 980kv 14t pinion 19t OWB 42 front gear & 61 rear main gear.

All flights are using 2 x 3S 3200mah Kong Power Lipos. The pack used for the first "warm up" flight, has dropped a couple of cells & you can see the voltage doesn't hold up at all. It has 178 cycles.

The 2nd flight pack was purchased at the same time & has 185 cycles & is still going strong. Did a lot of loops, stationery flips & inverted + punch outs this flight.

THe 3rd flight pack is only 35 cycles old. Same sort of flying as the 2nd flight. Notice how there really is no substantial difference between the performance of the 2nd & 3rd pack - pretty amazing I think when you consider the 2nd pack has been cycled 150 extra times!

The 2nd & 3rd flights were in st 2 with 100% - 85% - 100% TC

Cheers

I can't read your most recent posting Graeme, what are on each axis?

Yeah, I'm not getting this setup at all. I just installed my Z20a-980kv motor, 15, 42, 19, 61 which should get me in the 2,057 rpm range at 8 Poles and 8.99 gear ratio but the PowerPanel is showing much higher numbers. I then download the information and I'm getting totally different values, NOT what's showing up on the display? What am I doing wrong here?

Ok, so what value do you all display to show how much power you have left in your Lipos? THAT was why I bought this display...

I've not Tach'ed the blades, I was under the impression this thing would act as a poor's mans Tach as part of it's functionality but I must be missing something here. I just need to spend the $20 and buy a Tach it appears, but is there anyway to better calibrate the Brushless Sensor that I now have? I have one wire connected (I had both connected but I thought I'd clip one to see if I got different results). I'm confused why this is an issue as all frankly...

And yes, the Wattage numbers don't make any sense to me either. I'm not getting this device, I thought this thing was going to be plug and play for at least the easy stuff and it's not all adding up here.

Thoughts?

I don't have one (yet) but I remember people saying that the brushless sensor wasn't very accurate BUT if you work out what HS you really have (tach etc.) then you can re-calibrate the ET to match and your results will then be consistent

Same gearing/motor as you tach'd just over 2100rpm at mid stick 0 pitch (100-95-100 TC). Would like to check it again since last time there was a little more mid stick than I realized when 'dozer read the rpm.

Here's my latest thread, looks like the EagleTree worked at least; too bad the Gaui is DEAD yet again. ESC or BEC are the only things that make sense to me, thoughts?

Drew, on my log the LHS has Watts (orange) & Prop RPM (Green), The RHS has Amps (Purple) & Pack Volts (Blue)

Cheers

Hey RJ

With the head speed that low how is she for stability?

I bet you get really long flight times with that head speed and those batteries

How do you find the TT 550 Woodies?

Any good, quality wise?

Cheers

Hi Ben,

It flys very nice and mellow at 1500 rpm. I am running longer tail blades as the tail authority decreased with the lower headspeed. I think the stability is fine, very docile. But if you are used to high headspeeds, you might not like it. It flys more like a scale heli would fly. I was just getting the mechanics set up with the stock head as I have already taken the stock head off and am fitting the Hirobo MRBIII 3 blade head for testing with the VStabi unit.

Sorry you can't see the attachment, it is a graph of the Eagle Tree log. If you PM me your email, I can try to send the jpg image. It shows an 8 minute flight using 2000 ma, so I figure I could fly 12 min. for 3000 ma and still leave some reserve from the 4000maH packs.

I took the TT 550mm woodies off of an old Concept 30 I have on the shelf. They are good quality for wood blades, but the heatshrink covering is thin and also needs to be shrunk before flying. You have to epoxy the plastic root reinforcements to the blade. I auto'd the Gaui with them fine. The driven tail does drain some energy though compared to the undriven tail Concept 30 autos. The TT woodies are heavier than the Gaui blades. They are very stable.

Regards,
Rick
