Talking Plastic Arms for CF frame

Today I decided to play with my idea of using some plexiglass to make some arms for my CF folding frame. My goal was to use the arm as a diffuser for the LED as well as serving it's normal purpose. I made all four but only installed one for testing. I'm not sure how strong it is going to be but it seems like it should work well. I'm eager to see what it looks like tonight .

In the light the weight in the same as the CF arms, the rigidity is no where close LOL.

Feel free to share your opinion on this.

FLOP!

That added visibility suggest by my bathroom photos was not so noticable once airborn..... The visibility from the underside is MUCH better......but the light on the topside is a bit dim...so It's pretty much a wash IMO. It's better, but only marginally......so not worth the effort of fabrication and installation.

That sucks, it looked promising.

Agreed! I was fairly disappointed.... I also noticed that after 3 flights back-to-back-to-back, the heat dissipated through the motor made the polycarbonate arme VERY flexible...no way that can be good for flight performance!

Flew 3 packs through her this morning. Really flew her hard! It amazes me how you can just beat this thing 7 or 8 minutes of hard flying and the motors don't even get warm, at least on mine they don't. I flew around the ball field almost an entire battery straight out and she loves it! I've had a couple of let downs with Horizon products, but the 200qx?

Default GOT ANTENNA?

I seem to not be able to get a very solid video link with my current pico Vtx and it's supplied antenna...so I decided I'd try out a circular polarized antenna. I did not want to buy one in case it doesn't improve anything (Vtx could be bad since I've damaged it before ) so I used the instructions on flitetest to make my own.

Man, this thing is HUGE! LOL. A smaller antenna would be nice but I'm already set up for 1.3mhz so this is how it's gotta be....

Construction of this was very crude and took less than 30minutes. When I damage it in the first crash I will not be too upset, this is basically for testing/experimentation purposes

current AUW is 208g as pictured with two batteries

Close proximity testing so far has been very successful....I hope to get over to the park and test it a bit this evening.

well further testing shows this was not a successful attemp . It works, and was adequate for me to fly around the elementary school field....but it's not accurate enough I believe. It's weird because I can get a nice picture in my goggles but I get nothing (black, not static fuzz) when I hook the VRx to a TV . I can get image to show on the TV if I switch my VRx to channel C (1360mhz) but my VTx is supposed to be 1258mhz (channel d) and the picture in the goggles is not as good on channel C as it is on D.

I ordered some RG316 (not sure what I used, stole the cable from an old 5.8 patch antenna) and when it shows up from China I'll try my hand at this again.

Almost lost her this morning,,, . I was flying around the ball field in stability mode, flying pretty hard. But the bugs were biting harder. So I had an idea to see if its any better in the dugout. I figured in the shade won't be so many mesquitos. I fly out across the field full throttle, come back at myself and spin it around to head back the other way, but it floated more than I antisipated and went over my head and over the little roof on the dugout. My first instinct was forward...no! no! wait it may have yawed UP UP! I run out around the front and look behind me....gone!!!!!!! I can't see it anywhere. I just stood there for like 5 seconds looking around, into the trees behind me, and realized I had my throttle still pegged!!! I dropped the throttle to just under half way, looked up and saw nothing for what seemed like 30 seconds, and then I spot it , a faint sparkle in the clear blue sky!!!!! Did a couple of aileron moves back and forth and found my orientation. Then brought her down to earth. Thankfully I was in stability mode and she held a pretty good hover way up there! Thats my morning gents, how was yours?

Very scary .. These damn mosquitos. Yeah, during the day is very windy here and only after sunset you can really enjoy the flight but all these bugs are sucking your blood. I know use the repellant....

Default Flew off, lost!

Well recovered Bigsmitty!
Not so for me last night though.
Took off normal, switched to mode 2 (blue), slow forward out to 15m or so, quick climb to 10m, and hover, no wind.
Waiting for a friend to get ready with his camera and suddenly the 200QX lurched left and off it went.
Tried to bring it back but intermittent response stuck at an angle.
Out past field limits over the houses. Lost!
Shame because it's been a great flyer up to now, 40 - 50 great flights.

I am allergic to the repellant. Big batteries for the Proto in your case:
