Default Taranis Telemetry

What products do I need to buy to get full telemetry on my Taranis and x8r rx?

Well for telemetry back to your Transmitter you just need modules that are supported by the S-port. The 40A current sensor, the varios and others just daisy chain.

Really depends what and how you are flying, mostly I think they would be great on powered gliders but not so much on MR's except for the current sensor, nice to know how much power you have used and have voice alerts. I sold all my Taranis gear, all my telemetry comes through on screen, almost all my flying is done FPV so don't need the voice alerts. $20 or so for the 40A sensor is pretty good though.

If all you want is the current sensor then just timing flights works well, I always have a timer set anyway.

Pete

I have always used a timer when out flying. After testing the batteries to know how many minutes of flight time I can get on the 80% mark. I was thinking if i were to use any of that stuff it would be the RSSI feather.

On the Taranis the RSSI feature is built in anyway.

May I ask why? Ive been looking at one, ive been flying my dx6i FOREVER. Im finally gonna break down and upgrade. What are your thoughts? It would only be used for fpv setups and a photo/video setup via a dragonlink. And I would keep my dx6i for all my other bindable models.

Well I had DX18, 14SGH and the Taranis and decided that for what I wanted to do and the way I wanted to do things the Taranis was the odd one out. The Taranis is a very powerful system let down by some abysmal programming, designed by clever programmers rather than flyers/modelers in my view, there is still a couple of features from the Taranis I would like on the other radios but you can't have everything.

Default Taranis

I'VE been flying for many years and I really enjoy what the Taranis can do. It does take a bit of a learning curve to get the hang of setting it up ,but once I got all that figured out its the best $200 I have ever spent on RC equipment. The RSSI feature gives you a nice peace of mind when it comes to stretching your limits and there are many other features that make this Radio a great purchase . So I give it 5 stars and an A + for the selling price.
