Wow....

I don't think Jeff "screwed" anyone by dropping Gaui and Compass. He is looking out for his best interests which is what any adult would do.
It requires a lot of money to travel and attend events. It would have been much easier for him to sit at home. I don't understand the point of this statement...lol.

I would have responded in more detail earlier, but I was too busy volunteering my time to serve homeless people at Siloam Mission this morning ....

.... To further my response, just do a search on these forums and you'll not only positive comments.

I spent a whole day at IRCHA last year rebuilding someone's helicopter because they were not happy with it even though they didn't buy it from me. Most of my time at those events are dedicated to helping people. This year I spent another good chunk of my time helping people and answering questions.

You seem to know a lot about my comings and goings even though you've never attended any of the events I've been to

I'll let my reputation speak for itself.

You're in direct violation of the forum rules being disrespectful and public trashing.

+1 very uncool!

Nobody is left stranded, it's just a bit less convienient to have to order from across the border. I will likely get an X3 even if we don't have a dealer in Canada. It would just be nice if there were parts & kits here.

Flyswatter, that comment was totally uncalled for and uncool, and I refuse to give it more airtime by quoting it!

I own both an X3 and a Warp and purchased them because I believe them to be quality products. While I didn't buy either of them from Jeff, it did not stop him from helping me, and he has helped countless others and continues to do so. Am I disappointed he's downsized his operation? Sure, as an owner of Gaui and Compass in Canada its hard not to be, but I don't begrudge him, but rather applaud him for his actions ... putting family first. Even if that was not the case, which is obviously your opinion, it's his business to run it as he chooses, and doesn't owe us anything.

Jeff is a first class guy and your low brow comments won't change that!

Getting back on topic. Yes it would be fantastic if Great Hobbies would stock Gaui. I used to spend money at my local GH regularly when I first came into the hobby. I would again if Gaui parts were available.

I thought rotor quest did carry gaui but dropped it? Maybe I'm mixing up the websites...

You guys want to know the truth ? If Gaui was popular enough for a hobby shop to carry then a hobby shop would. Dealers stop carrying lines because they just don't sell or the markup is horrible. Imagine having to carry $10-20k worth of parts that you might get 10% margin on. If that brand doesn't sell you are just stuck with those parts. The margins in this hobby are tiny, dealers struggle to keep afloat and they need to make the right decisions and move to where the market is going.

Unfortunately sales in this hobby have very little to do with flying performance or kit quality.

Boo Dominic get out of here with your sense making, we just want some parts.

Rotorquest sold the NX4 and some quads but never had the good models like the X4/X5/X7 so maybe that's why their sales were not great. Since Rotorquest has an account with Empire they can probably order us parts if we need them, so if you are really hurting and don't want to order from USA or China give them a call.

I think Empire is also part of the issue. Places like Great Hobbies probably want to deal with Gaui directly but have to go through Empire instead and I could see why they may not want to as the only experience I have had with Empire was not exactly a great experience.

This is too bad, I've been keeping an eye out for an NX4 gasser kit (or kit + conversion) for ages in Canada but always shows "out of stock" or dropped by the dealers.

Oh well we can hope... or just order from the US.

jacquesjb do you mean rotorquest? I know Eugene is one of the workers at rotorquest. Would be sweet if both great hobbies and Rotorquest start selling Gaui.

Swooper6 great news!!!

Awesome! I want to pick up an X3 to build this winter to go alongside my X5. I would love to buy it from a Canadian dealer!

I have had news from RotorQuest today :

"Hi Jacques,

Very sorry, Eugene is currently off for vacation so let me take care of this ticket for him. Regarding the Gaui, we decided to delay it a bit as things are very slow right now and we have to give priority for new SAB and Align products since they are our featured products. There is still no specific time to get the Gaui in but Gaui is still in our plan to carry. We will announce it on our website or on facebook once the decision is made.

Again, very sorry for the delay with the Gaui, Jacques. If you would like us to special order parts, please let me know and we will see if we can order them for you.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other request.

Best regards,
Shawn
"
