I have a KDE 700XF-495 v1 motor on my Whiplash and a KDE 700XF-495 v2 motor on my Synergy E7SE. They both work excellently. I have a spare v2 700XF-495 motor I was going to swap and install on the Whiplash, but the v1 version works so well, I have not bothered to swap it out. It's hard to believe that these newer G3 versions are even better than the previous generations. Good job Patrick

I flew my new Forza 700 with 700fx 535 g3 on Saturday. The power is amazing. Had to take it easy though. I had to break in my new 5000 stick pack.
I got about 4.5 minutes flying them down to 45% or so.
Running 2100 for about 2 minutes then 1900 for the remainder of the flight.
Its geared for 2200. I want a few cycles on the packs before I put a beating on them.

I just ordered one for my new Protos Max 700 V2. I think this will be a awesome motor. I am going to use a Kontronik Heli Jive 120 HV with heat sink. I use this ESC on my other 700s. I think it should work well with this motor ?

Looks like the Kontronik Heli Jive should be fine if it is running version 11 and higher in KSA mode.

Mine has version 13 firmware.

Hi, don't mean to steal your thread but I am using this same motor 700XF 535KV with a Kosmik 160 on a new Kyle Stacy Goblin. I had never done a build thread so I posted some pictures and I get a few guys saying that's a bad setup on a 3 bladed heli. The Kosmik will shut down from overpower on the motor.

Can I get some replies on this, I try not to listen to negative posts but they always leave that doubt in your head.

You should be fine with G3 motor. I read the thread on the Goblin forum but didn't reply. Back in the original and G2 with 8 poles, there were few shut down with the Kontronik ESC in auto timing mode. One have to run in KSA mode to reduce the chance of shut down. The main reason: the ESC was optimized for higher pole counts. Starting from G3 with 10 poles design, KDE motor can run with all the major ESC brands without any issue. I have been running mine in auto timing since G3 without any issue. There are few KDE team pilots run G3 with Kosmik without any issue also.

We run ours on a castle 160hv. It works fine on it and we did run one on a kosmic I for some speed runs. We ran it a 100% output with no problems. It didn't shut down. A lot of it has to do with collective management. On Ryan's forza he runs a castle 120 hv on the two blade and he only pulls around 5800 watts and 130 amps and he is flying it hard. If I can get a break on the weather here I will get a video of a flight and will get some numbers. Maybe that will help. I do have a friend that has the same setup and he is pulling 10500 to 11000 watts on his and don't do near the stuff and isn't near as quick. He don't have good collective management

I wasn't going to change the setup. I'm sure I will be fine. I don't do smack 3d or speed. So I will check some logs after flying but I didn't think it was a bad setup. I hate having a doubt put into my head.

I plan on running a Hobbywing 160A platinum ESC with this motor in my 700C..will the ESC handle the AMP draw from this motor..

My Castle 160 handles it perfectly fine with plenty of room to spare. Amp draw is determined by using a proper setup and gearing for the RPM you are using and the way you fly, not the brand ESC you choose.

There is no such thing as a blanket statement that "X motor draws too many amps for X ESC"
The exact same ESC motor combo can draw much higher amps in the hands of a pilot that doesn't understand proper setup vs the same combo used by one that does.

There are many variables that determine what size ESC will work for you.

Xrated is exactly right. I have seen ppl do average 3D moves and pull peaks of 230amps or more. Then there are ppl that do hard eye popping 3D and don't pull more than 160 amps. When we started in this Ryan and I couldn't figure out how we could have the same parts as say a Nick Maxwell type of pilot but the Heli seemed to not have the power and snap his did. I have seen Ryan in the beginning years pull over 300 amps and 12000 watts on the logs. Now that he has gotton better his amp draw on a flight is down to around a max of 160 and watts of 6000 max and his flying is way better. A 160 will work well. We are flying ours on castle 120s but your setup better be right and your collective management better be spot on

Your 160a esc should be just fine. I run KDE gen 3 motors on all my 7 and 800 two blade head setups with YGE 160s without any problems. Xrayted post is right on.

I did do a 14s changeover on all mine, and immediately saw close to 20% lower amp draws and much cooler electronics. Picked up more power also. So if you can?

The only issue I have had with the gen 3 in my Triabolo 800, was it actually had too much power, and was torturing my gears. So I stepped it down with the big 800 koz, which contrary to their claims. Doesn't have as much power as the KDE Gen 3s, so it is living with it.
