Default Help! can't get Taranis to bind with X8R

I've watched several videos, with a couple of different approaches. I can't get my reciever to flash or go green or anything. ugh. looks like everything is plugged in correctly.

I turn on my radio, go to bind mode, get the bird chirping. Push in the FS button on the RX, while plugging in the battery. No LED on the RX.

Aha! It helps to have the Sbus wire plugged into the correct port. I successfuly have bound my radio.

so the next step is to connect to the Naza Assistant. I plug the USB cable from the computer to the LED module, turn on my taranis, then plug in the hex? Is this correct?

With the radio on, Hex batt plugged up and a green light on the X8R, I plugged my usb cable that came with the naza into the end of the LED module, and into the USb port on my laptop. I then opened the assiant software.

A screen comes up with "dji multirotor and a yellow bar. The yellow bar stops at about 3/4 across the screen and stays there. So I click the skip button. The assitant opens up, and can navigate the windows, but the only effective change I can make is the click the dbus radio button. moving the sticks does nothing. Can't calibrate. Just nothig.

It sounds like your USB is not seeing the FC, do you have power going to the FC through the PMU? You cannot select a skipa when using the assistant for setup.

Usb into hex first. Then turn on taranis. Then plug in hex flight battery.

Should be a solid green light on the naza LED.

Then open assistant software.

Try that and let us know...

Exactly how I did it, multiple times. My computer makes the doo-dah sound, and the LED goes solid green. Open the software and I can get to all of the screens. I noticed in the info screen that there is no serial number auto-populated. I tried the serial number of the NAza M unit, but it says it needs a 32 digit serial number (wayyymore than the naza serial number) and you only get 32 tries to get it right. The two mode lights at the bottom of the screen are not lighting up, so I suspect this is the problem.

I called DJI support number and after a 12 minute wait where I was the 2nd caller in queue and I would only have to wait 2 minutes, I got a guy who seemed barely awake. He told me to try the serial number on the naza unit, and when that didn't work, said I needed to send an e-mail to [email protected].

the e-mail is sent. I'm burnt out, tired. putting it away for the night. After fighting through my lunch hour to find I had plugged the sbus incorrectly, and then 2 hours of quadruple checking the wiring tonight, I've had enough fun.

Sorry previous post sounded like it was being done incorrectly and/or out of order.

The FC makes the little jingle tone when the batt is hooked up. I assume that means it is getting power? Also the LED changes. The Led gets power through the FC and it goes to solid green when plugged into the computer.

Tried uninstalling the software and drivers and reinstalling?

Default got it figured out!!!

Called my IT guy in, and he checked the connection and figured out that the Drivers weren't installed. Went to the DJI site and found a seperate download for the drivers. Got it loaded and working and went through the sticks calibration. Hope to make progress tonight. thanks for the support!!

Getting closer! Got the assistant to work, set up Taranis as per this instruction:
http://www.multirotorforums.com/show...-and-Naza-M-V2

I ran a motor test and had to swap direction on three of my motors. I can't seem to get the manual failsafe switch (the last step in the instruction) to move my graphical slider on the assistant. Something is wrong there.

I unplugged the Hex from the battery and the computer, powered radio down, then back on, then plugged the Hex into only the battery. I get three red lights for a few seconds, then get a quick flashes of Yellow (can't count but I assume that it the warm up signal) then three red lights constantly. That means no GPS lock (which I would expect as I am inside a metal building).

I switch to Attit mode and get the correct light, with throttle centered and off center (one or two flashes) and I get the correct light in GPS mode, and no light in manual mode, except for the GPS no signal flashes.

I can't start the motors in CSC ( no props installed). I haven't set up the GPS location yet, nor have I done compass calibration. Am I missing something?

System check is at the bottom when the battery is plugged in, should cycle all and give green confirmation. Anything else is not wanted upon start up.

The bunch of yellows sounds like tx signal loss and/or failsafe.

Multiple green flashes a minute or so in is the warmup/home position register.

Got everything set up and calibrated. GPS is measured and entered. Compass dance is done successfully, got good lock on GPSs. Everything I can check is checked and double checked and then checked again. Everything appears to work properly as per the LED module.

I can't get the motors to start. They turn during the motor test but won't start with the radio. I have tried every combination of CSC multiple times, just can't get the motors to turn.

Got to be something simple.

Im guessing a setting in the taranis that your overlooking.

Any weird mixes that would disable the FC completely? Like when "x" is enabled it offsets a stick to center not allowing it to reach its endpoint which in turn wouldnt start the motors. "X" being throttle hold, or a flight mode switch.

Because i know on mine even with throttle hold(normal) on i can still start the motors but obviously cant give any throttle thus making it turn back off.

I may be stretching to find fixes for you and im sure its something even easier and dumber. Keep looking and testing in the naza software, you may just spot something...

Found it. It wasn't something I missed, it was a tribal secret. The graphical sliders on the assistant have to be all the way to the right when throttle is 100% and Elev is 100%. Mine were inverted by default. I reversed them, and now the CSC is working.

At lunch, I'll put the props on and start some testing.
