Yes! I wouldn't have bought a Chroma if it didn't have stability. You can hit about 45-50MPH in stability on the Chroma and it's quite a smooth ride.

I take the legs off off the Chroma because they come off so easily with a clip, and use the aeronaut carbon fiber props, I am able to pull about 23-25 minutes of aggressive flight in stability mode as well.

It even works with the GB203 gimbal too on my DX7, absolutely perfect control and adjustment with that. Not sure if you added gimbal adjustment to your file either but figured I'd bring that up.

One of my best pics in stability, they even made it the same color indicator.

Here you go.
Just dug my kit out seeing as the lighter nights are here, and the weather is a little calmer. So once again doing much reading and playing with the various files.

One bit of info, I dont seem to be able to find a real explanation for is the "dual rate option" as requested by Lionhh on the "D Switch".

What does this Low and High rate do?

Thanks and sorry for being a thicko!!!!

The programmable transmitters (I don't count the DXe in that category, as it's very limited) have features called "dual rate" and "expo". Both of those features are intended to make your aircraft a little less sensitive to stick movement, making it easier to handle.

I did a writeup in post #6 that explains those two features and why you'd want to use one or both of them.
https://www.helifreak.com/showpost.p...56&postcount=6

It took me a long time to figure that out, so don't feel like it's a silly question. The transmitter documentation is pretty lousy when it comes to explaining the features - it really only tells you which screen the feature is on.

Thanks FlightEngr that made a lot more sense and I see what its all about now, giving the user back some better control to make smoother flights.

Although at the moment I am staying away from "Stability and Agility" until I have more confidence in the craft.

Just started to get the hang of it towards the backend of last summer, then I go and lay it up for a few months and have to start all over again.....thats the British weather for you

Thanks again

Just read all 9 pages and lots of really clever stuff.

I have the QX3 (latest firmware V3) AP Combo and want to set it up on my UK supplied JR DSX9. Having read this thread I am not sure there is a definitive setup for that TX yet?

Can anyone let me have the basic set up programming details, including all 4 flight modes and gimbal control??

Thanks

The PDF file I put in post # 2 (https://www.helifreak.com/showpost.p...08&postcount=2) starts out by explaining the inputs that the quad is looking for on each channel.

But I have to admit, the gimbal control is still a bit confusing to me and I don't have one with a gimbal to test it out. If you only have a 6 channel transmitter, then you use a switch on channel 6 to toggle between using the throttle stick as either the throttle control or the gimbal tilt control. According to the QX3 manual, how you set up channel 6 differs based on whether or not you have a 6-channel transmitter or a 7+ channel transmitter. With 7+ channels, you can use channel 7 to control the gimbal directly and forget about this toggle switch business.

All of the settings are based on Spektrum's range of values where +100% is the normal high positive value and -100% is the normal low negative value, and 0% is in the center.

With firmware version 3/QX3, the return-to-home (RTH) function is also lumped in with the four real flight modes on channel 5. On previous versions, RTH was on channel 6.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I should use that as a baseline and play with it from there and see what the LED's are telling me. With the props off!!!

Can you get better quality (carbon fibre??) props for these quads???

I have the Xtreme CF props and like them. Got mine a few years ago and they were pretty well balanced. I've heard since of balance issues with them. Might have been a bad batch. I got the flat metal caps, wish I had the domes ones as shown on the link above.

p.s.
These props have a nice sound to them.

If I setup expo for throttle ( 70%+20% ) is it good for fliying in the same attitude with no jerky up/down ? Currently is 100%, no expo .
