Default New Software/Firmware 1.0.010/1.3.050 is available

Release notes:

- 1.0.010 (firmware 1.3.050)

- Added Spektrum Binding in software

- Cyclic Rotational Speeds are now separated for Aileron and Elevator

- Overspeed after spoolup with some ESC: fixed

- Dynamic headspeed management during extreme overspeed maneuvers added

- Random hot start on startup on some ESC: fixed

- Governor precompensation optimization

- Added tail drag precompensation

- Added Cyclic Pitch Pump

- Added swashplate design in radio setup for see the servo number position

- In wizard (panel 7) doubled the resolution in swashplate setup

- Factory default "Tail Dynamics" is now at 6% (easier on TT transmissions)

- In Model Size Selection (panel 11) Elevator preset D Gain raised

- Governor: Deadzone range raised now at 0-350

- Bailout ramp range raised now at 0-140

- Removed JR trademark from drop down menu and also from swashplate selection

- Added in cyclic setup instruction "10 degree"

- Minimum and Maximum throttle pulse width for the esc, is visible also in the Wizard

- "Motor is Electric" check now is also in the Wizard, now “Electric motor” is default

- Inserting, complete, correction, of texts.

- Overall optimization and bug fixes (Cyclic Ring, Feed Forward, etc.)

Setting changes to do from previous version :

- Set the new Rotational Speed
- VERY IMPORTANT Verify the cyclic rates separately for ail/elv before flying in each bank
Rates for ail/elev are in Advanced->setup1-2-3->cyclic

Android version will follow in about 2 weeks, we decided to not hold the new firmware and release for windows and have people enjoy it even if Android not out yet.

Please use it and let us know what you think.

As usual free to all users as it will always be............

Thanks for waiting and hope you will like flying it as much as we liked it writing and testing it for you.

Special thanks to all our dev and test team.

Special thanks to Alex Rose AKA OnTheSnap.

Awesome news! Thank you!!

Now if sping would only get here so I could go cut up some air!

Any tips on upgrading? or should one be able to update and go (after a double check of settings of course)?

Start the Brain/ikon software, it should tell you there is a new version, click ok, it should update. Than after connecting the unit should tell you there is a new firmware, click ok and update.

Cool! I haven't been able to fly lately but this gives me a reason to get the heli out and fondle it.

Thanks!

Hope you guys love this firmware as much as I do. :-)

A few things that may help -
1) As mentioned by Corrado, double check elevator/aileron rotational rates in each setup to make sure they are what you expect

2) For tail drag compensation I find -6 is good for most model sizes. You can test it by doing side in climb outs upright/inverted and watching the boom angle. Flat or a tiny amount of lag is ideal. You don't want more than you need. Note that once enabled you have to be in check mode to correctly measure min/max pitch.

3) Pitch Pump - Well this is the ultimate tool for hard smack. And also helps a lot on the small heli's too where there is less collective authority. For a serious pop and lock session, I like about 40 on this. Becomes silly fun in hard stops and tic tocs where collective becomes very easy to manage. It doesn't impact precision and is really implemented in a brilliant way

4) Governor updates are HUGE in this update. Take the time to re-address your governor settings to make sure they are optimized. Defaults are still pretty good. If you like the overspeed high energy stuff like I do, the Brain is industry leading now in terms of how it dynamically manages headspeed recovery. More precisely, after you overspeed and load the head there is ZERO recovery time to the set headspeed. It's simply brilliant. McDoogle away. The changes made in feed forward and overspeed management also greatly improved the RPM holding capability of the Brain governor. My heli's all feel far more powerful now.

5) Auto-rotation bail out - I use about 90 on the bail out ramp now. Or sometime higher. Now the headspeed comes back on MUCH faster. So doing blade stop fakies and getting the power back on before you plow is stress free.

Have fun!

Corrado

I'm worried about this parameter, in the previous firmware the default is 50.

This parameter should be reduced to 6?

6 softens default stops to safe levels on TT helis. A value of 50 would not survive a single flight for me on a 700e or similar. 6 is a good starting point. If you want harder stops you can increment slowly from there.

As a reference point I run my Protos Max and G700 at 20. My 700e at 6.

The scale is the same. Just better defaults.

Hi, can this be done via bluetooth, or must the USB port be used ? Updated both the software and firmware, but now the software crashes after the first screen change - with bluetooth.

Software starts, Connects and opens. Any selection after that crashes the software.

Brain software and Windows.

I haven't seen this issue yet. It doesn't crash with USB connected on the same machine? Just bluetooth on a PC?

A couple of questions from someone new to Ikon and somewhat new to the hobby:

If I haven't gone into Advanced Mode to alter these prior to the update, do I need to do anything with this after updating? In other words, would someone who had only set-up banks in the Basic Wizard need to worry about this?

I saw this instruction during my head set-up but was a little unclear on how to handle. Is the 10 degrees a calibration or a limit (like pitch)? I had seen various recommendations in various threads, videos, etc. as far as what cyclic pitch to use. I had planned on going with around 8 degrees for starts, but after seeing this instruction wasn't sure which way to go. I hedged a little and set at 9.5 degrees. Will this be ok or is this a calibration that I need to try to get exact?

Please double check aileron/elev rates in each bank. Both should be populated with the same old setting by default.

Cyclic pitch doesn't have to be exact. But through a lot of testing on many setups 10 degrees has been optimal for all types of flying. It doesn't Impact agility or stability. But if it's changing you will need to re optimize your head gain again. If you used the default gain at 8 degrees, going to 10 drops the maximum achievable gain. So there is a chance you may need to lower it.

Kinda hard when you don't have it installed 😊
I'm a user of the Android app. I just hoped to find the installer on the website

Will the bluetooth Android app runs well with this firmware? I see that we have some new parameters.
